If you want to run speaker wire in your walls, this is a great device to put on the end. Understanding the back and making it work is a little more complicated. Look up "Leviton 40951-1PW install guide" and the manufacturer's website will give you a diagram. You slide the speaker wire into a connector, pinch it, and then slide the connector on to the terminal, and pinch it again. Then you hope that you don't jostle things to the point where they become disconnected when screwing the plate to the box. I ran cables for surround sound during a remodel, and these plates went off and on while troubleshooting more times than they should have. Now that they're set, they're a wonderful improvement over speaker wire run along the ceiling (according to my girlfriend).

The connectors in the back require a crimping tool (connectors supplied). But I ordered 4 and was supplied with three of one type and one of a different which required some adjustments.

The white plate is more flexible than I’d expect. Comes off as cheapish and maybe easy to break. More rigid plastic would be perceived as better quality. But it worked well though.

Had to adapt for better mounting.

The mounting screws for the contact assy. hit against the edge of the workbox, causing the plate to bow out at the center on both sides. I had to buy shorter screws to eliminate the problem. Once you get around that obstacle, they are fine.
