U 9550 door reinforcer

Fit and finish are fine. The screws provided were not intended for a steel door and locating brass colored sheet metal screws has proven elusive. I'm sure this product was intended for reinforcing a wood door, however we used it to protect the paint finish on a steel door around the lock set area that was being damaged from use and required repainting of the entire door several times. That is the only reason for the rating.

Fit just as advertised

Bought this to fix and reinforce a door that broke / split at the lock / latch area. After taking the handles and lock off and nothing out the door, I slipped this on over the door. It fit just right and covered the damaged area. After putting the lock and handles back on, I was done. Comes with a few screws to secure it to the door. Make sure you get the right size to match the width of your door. Since all doors vary, these do come in different sizes.

Meh? Decorative trim? Wrong. Security ? No.

Standard kwickset seemed to be off by a third of an inch. Slots for the knob screws show on toward the inside of the door if the striker plate is correct.

Worked Perfectly for Me

I locked myself out of the house (duh) so I had to break the lockset in order to get in. In the process the door was very damaged and a replacement lockset would not have worked. I bought this and it was a perfect fix for my broken door. It was not hard to install but you have to get it to fit as close to the door as possible so it will clear the jamb when you close the doot.

Keeps me safer

There were signs someone had tried to jimmy the back door. They can't do that anymore, thanks to this product. I feel safer with it. It only just fit in the jam, and it does allow for a bit of a draft as it crushes the strip that seals the door.
