Great value and very sturdy... Still after 2 years!

I purchased this in July of 2016 for me to use with my mother. The only complaint I have... More color choices. I know it sounds petty but I really wanted green for my mom because it is her favorite color....settled on the blue. Otherwise this is a wonderful chair. This was perfect for taking my mom places that have long walking distances. So easy to pick up and put it in the trunk or the back seat of the car. Had no problems with the footrest and the different ways to apply the brake. I ended up buying a bag to hang over the back so I can put my things in there and my mom does not have to hold two large handbags. I find this to be very sturdy and easy to maneuver. Really a blessing for me right now because my almost 93 year old mother can no longer stand up or walk. So this truly is a lifesaver inside and outside the home. I researched all different types of wheelchairs 2 years ago and I found this to be the best priced for what I was looking for. Had a chance to go inside of CVS to see this but at that time they only had black... Plus it was more than twice as much! Really nice transport and fantastic value!!

Except for the leg rests, it is a great Wheelchair.

Assembly was a problem in that no instructions were included and it was difficult to remove the foam wrapping. But once assembled, it was very good except for the foot rests which cannot be adjusted. Moreover, the simplistic leg straps on the foot rests have a screw that sticks up an inch and makes it difficult to use the step to get into the wheelchair. My wife just could not get into the wheelchair with the foot rests open and could not get her feet on them when she was finally seated. However after buying a pair of adjustable foot rests for $60 made by the chair manufacturer, that solved the problem and made the wheelchair much more comfortable. The only problem is that with the adjustable foot rests are much heavier than the original foot rests and have to be removed before putting the chair in a vehicle. But it is worth it. It is too bad that Karman does not offer the same version of the wheelchair with the option of having adjustable foot rests. The brakes are great, The brakes can be locked either using the grips on the handlebar or using the foot pedal. It also has lifters at the back so that the person pushing the chair can tip it upwards to get it over obstacles.

Burgundy Wheelchair: Travel In Style

I bought this for my gravely ill mother's October 13 Birthday. My mother can walk, but after 31 days in the hospital recently, she cannot walk far, without gasping for air. I will be transporting her to doctor appointments, via public bus in this wheelchair. This wheelchair is a bit heavy, which is fine, as I don't want a flimsy wheelchair for my mother. It is a beautiful burgundy wheelchair! However, I am not sure if I put the leg rests on right. That's the only tiny thing "wrong" about this wheelchair, I'm sure I'll figure it out. UPDATE: I finally figured out I had the leg rests installed wrong...The black clip of the leg rests locks onto the pivot part on the inside, not the outside... The wheelchair is perfect! I saw the exact same Karman Wheelchair on Walgreens website, it retails for $328.99, being sold for the same price that I paid for this wheelchair, $126.69! I saved $202.30 cents, by buying this wheelchair! By buying my wheelchair from Amazon, I got it within 2 days. With Walgreens, I'd had to wait a week! My mother loves her new stylishly beautiful chariot!

A good replacement for the heavier chair I was using

This is half the weight of the wheelchair I was using for my mother. Narrow enough to go through even the smaller doorways of a typical bathroom. It goes in and out of my SUV hatch easily. Very easy to fold and open again. It can be uncomfortable for the passenger to sit in for a longer period of time. I would suggest getting a cushion for the seat and back if you'll be using it for extended periods.

Great Wheelchair for Smaller Folk

This has been a great help. Fits my mother perfectly. She is pretty small, so having a smaller size makes it much easier for her to get into and especially out of the wheelchair, plus it's comfortable for her once she's in it. Bigger chairs swallow her up and make getting out really a pain. It's well built and easy to assemble. Mine came with straps for the foot rests, but my mother didn't like them so I took them off. The hardest part was adjusting the height of the footrests, but even that just took a few minutes. I really like how light it is and how quickly it folds together. It makes it really easy to take it out and put it in the car. It's not perfect though. The ribbed hand grips are hard plastic and they get uncomfortable after awhile, but a trip to the bike store and some handlebar tape took car of that.

Brakes Failed After Minimal Use

While this Karman Transport Wheelchair looks good and is easy to use, it was also seriously defective. The hand brake and wheel lock failed after only using it for only a few weeks. I will have to throw it away because it can't be easily repaired or even donated in this condition. What a waste of money!

Excellent for Transport

I needed a smaller wheelchair for taking my 100 year old mother to various places in my Saturn. This chair fits nicely in the back seat and is light enough for me to put it there. I did find the footrests a bit of a problem as they make it harder to load. I just took them off since I really did not need them. My mom is small and not heavy so the chair works well for her. For heavier and taller people it may not work as well as other reviewers have noted.
