For those of us slogging through El Niño torrents of horizontal rain and high winds, awning weights are absolutely essential to safety and survival. Flying tents are expensive casualties, and dangerous to workers and civilians. So what weights work best? These are terrific! If you treat them with respect and don't thrash them around, they stay in great shape and are well constructed to last. The biggest secret to success with these tent weights? Use playground sand, washed and clean, and put them into Gallon Ziplock Freezer Bags. If you put just over 3 pounds of sand into 4 Ziplocks, to then be slipped into the two chambers of the wrap-around bags, the sand will never leak out and spill into your vehicle, and in the rain, only the nylon of the bag gets wet, but not the sand! Big difference. No wet sand holding a gallon of water to be seeping into your vehicle on your journey home. The nylon sleeve holds almost no rainwater, and dries quickly to avoid mold and mildew. Some people brew their own solutions with PVC pipe and concrete, weightlifting weights and so on. But these stack in the car with minimal space required, don't bang up your interior, function really well when strapped to your awing legs, and seem to last. Cruise any farmers' market and look to see what everyday farmers use to keep their tents from flying away --- you'll discover plenty of the Caravan Canopy Weight Bags, most battle-worn and still hanging in there, doing their duty. After six solid years and now five farmers' markets per week, these canopy weights have won my additional dollars when expanding my awning empire. Don't hesitate - these are the best solution available!

Best weights

I saw these on a canopy at a campground. Each pouch had a couple zip lock bags in them-ziplock bags were filled with water. No sand or rocks to haul around. Just fill ziplock bags with water at campsite or park and put into each pouch then empty bags when read to leave. Can’t get much easier.

Sturdy and secure

It took me a ridiculously long time to figure out that the tops of the bags close, but that's my only complaint. These are really durable and after 3 years (so far) of doing outdoor art fairs, I haven't had any issues with my tent moving or blowing around. Easy to carry and easy to secure.

certainly does the job

after reading many reviews about bags breaking i was skeptical about choosing any of the weight bags. went with this one because it was middle of the road price. and i am careful storing them and moving them in and out of the car for craft shows but they show no signs of tear, spilling sand etc. plenty sturdy for me and i use them on a weekly basis.

Easy to fill with sand and easy to lift also

A must have if you do craft shows! Easy to fill with sand and easy to lift also. Pack nicely in the car. I had been using cinder blocks prior to buying these and they were a dread to lift. I also damaged my car with the cinderblocks. Wish I had purchased these sooner! I am always amazed how many vendors do not have any type of tie downs for their tents. If I were the promoter I would tell them to tie down or leave. A tremendous amount of damage can be done by a flying tent!

Works great and great price

I bought these for use as as an outdoor vendor at festivals, and had a little rain and wind the first use. They held the canopy down well, attached to the bottom of the legs. I have them filled with 25 lbs. of sand each, and they do not leak, as a fellow vendor's does (different brand). The difference with these is they have velcro and fold down at the top to avoid leaks. The other vendor's bags had zippers. These were much lower in price too. Very pleased!

Peace of mind for over a year now

Have used these for over a year now. I keep them filled in my garage & take them out for events requiring stability over a few days &/or near the ocean (read:VERY windy). The 1st time I used these, I witnessed another vendors canopy w/5# go flying away during set-up! I add my 5# metal wgts. under the sandbags for additional stability. That gives me a total of 30# on each leg.

does a good job but was very disappointed when I did not receive them until after I really needed them had to go and spend more money to do what I needed to do on the day of my event the bags were delivered a day late.
