Leaks down overnite

Used this on a shallow well with a hand pump. First had at top of pipe near pump and it worked for alittle while after priming the pump, came out a hour later and it leaked down cause me to have to prime pump again which it the whole reason i purchased it. I then pulled it up and put the valve at the bottom of pipe about 18 feet down with same results. Took it apart lubed o rings and valve and still leaks down maybe I git a dud but when i get around to fixing it Im going for a metal ball type check valve cause this rubber type heart valve in a plastic tube isn't working for me.

Effective Solution For My Needs

I used this on my sailboat's automatic bilge pump discharge. The hose installed by the builder is 1". The newer bilge pumps use 1 1/8" fittings. I have a foot or so of 1 1/8" hose that curves upward coming out of the pump. I installed this valve vertically and it connects perfectly with the 1" hose that runs overboard. In my configuration I have about a gallon of water standing in the piping. The valve effectively prevents that water from draining back into the bilge.

great check valve but it would have been more cost effective to be able to find a replacement for the nitrile valve inside the assembly. Searched and searched but could not find just the valve.

Not likely to work very well for my application

I never installed this valve because, as you can see from the picture, the valve isn't closed as it comes from the factory. If there were a lot of head, then the back pressure might be enough to close the valve, and it would certainly slow the return flow, but my boat almost sank because of slow flow on the metal flapper valve this valve was intended to replace. I decided to go with a vented loop for my shower sump. Otherwise the product looked well made, at least on the outside. Both delivery and refund were prompt.

Odd size fitting

This is "ok". Not bad, but not great, just ok. Both fittings seem unusual sizes and I had to heat the 38mm pipe up to soften it in order to make it force-fit. It is not 100% fool proof either and water does slowly seep back through the valve.

Need a product that was going to work

I have linked in a extra filter tank to my fish pond and needed a non-return valve in the flow pipe , and this worked first time very pleased.

Pump outflow

Was not a whale valve but a cheap copy when I tackled them about it was told it was a mix up and when I returned it a whale would be sent, received a full refund still no whale valve ? Not happy clearly some using whals great name to sell uknamed brand as they look similar , and he tried telling me they was Marine grade, I term used for grades of stainless steel ! Will not do business with this guy again informed amozon but nothing has happened the guys still selling his dodge gear
