The reason for the 4 Star rating is the soldering tip came apart after a couple times of using it. I don't know if it was a manufacturing defect or what. But the other tips worked just fine.

Great Tool
Performance quite similar to the "Old Wellers" we grew up with and loved. Many gripe about two-heat trigger... just use it and get used to it. This tool works well out of the box and should serve you many years. I'm pleased with mine.

Quick Heat
This may not be as solid as the 'old' Wellers, but it works well, no waiting to get hot. The lights are a big help. The case gives it a place to rest.

Weller 9400PKS 120V Dual Heat 140/100W Universal Soldering Gun Kit
Background: I am a hobbyist, not a professional, but I've done my fair share of soldering. I bought this product because I have a motorcycle that I bought 2nd hand and the previous owner did not, in my opinion, wire correctly. He put led lights (front and back) in without adding any kind of resistors and, predictably, this results in hyper flash. Also, he put a fender eliminator kit on the rear, which left me no place to put my license plate (he cut that part off). Long story short: I felt that this whole situation needed to be redone. So I did. I have a soldering iron I bought years ago, the pen/screwdriver looking thing, that I never thought really worked that great. Since I had gotten set on rewiring the whole rear end of the motorcycle, I decided I needed a new soldering iron that would make the job a little easier. I went to Youtube looking for ways to make my wiring stronger and weatherproof, as some of these connections were going to be under my rear fender. I found a video by the user Wranglerstar and he recommended this product. I had seen his videos before, so I took a chance and ordered this product. I have to say, I'm really impressed! This is a great product and mine does in fact heat up in 6 seconds. I wired up all the connections using flux, solder, silicone auto paste and shrinkwrap tubing. Everything works, looks and performs great and I have had no issues what-so-ever with this product. I only give it four stars because I feel there is always room for improvement. In this case, there is no stand integrated into the gun to make it stand up while it is heating/cooling. Minor, to be sure, but noticeable while I was using it.

GREAT VALUE
I put this item to work the next day after I got it. I had to put a few ends on some coax cable for my VHF radio because it required a custom cut to length size. The high temp of this gun made it a breeze to get the solder to flow.

Heats quickly.
The advertised heat up time of six seconds is pretty accurate. The gun is fairly light and the LEDs provide good light coverage. The case ventilation slots have knife edges and irritate your hand when holding. (I found that reaming them with the edge of a letter opener dolls them sufficiently without damaging them) The dual wattage trigger has no detent and a little more play than I would like, but it’s not a deal breaker.

too much grease in the trigger mechanism?
I bought this 14 months ago so I can't return. Went to use it for the first time today and it was dead, no LEDs or even a hum. I'm electrically inclined, so I cracked the case, and after a little testing with a DMM I determined the problem was the trigger box. The trigger isn't a modular or replaceable part, but I thought I might be able to fix it. I ground off two rivets holding the trigger box cover on, but once off, it took a while to figure out its mechanism. I'm not sure why it was failing, but after finagling with it and, in the process, inadvertently removing a lot of the grease inside, I fastened the cover back on (with some tiny screws this time) and reassembled, and it finally worked. If anybody has problems like this in the future I would just recommend working the trigger a few hundred times before cracking the case. The trigger case contains plenty of green grease that doesn't look particularly conductive. (All of the conductive grease I've ever seen is jet black.) So I wouldn't be surprised if there is too much and it needs to be worked out.

La punta no es resistente
El diseño está muy bien y las luces LED son sensacionales desgraciadamente la punta es muy débil y en la primer apliquacion se dobló.

Lo compré por que Weller es una marca reconocida, pero desgraciadamente el producto no funcionó desde que lo abrí, más allá de esto, creo conveniente que se pudiera hacer un proceso de control de calidad, pues mas allá de que estoy seguro Amazon me hará el re embolso, me retraso en mi trabajo por fallas en el producto.
