If it only had a different LED other than Infrared, it would be perfect. I have no use for it but the other LED's are perfect for the intended job. I know, I know they make a model without infrared, and I knowingly bought it, so there was no false advertisement. I figured with white, blue, and red that I would have all my basic needs met, and I would have to option to purchase night vision down the road. Gives me an excuse to buy more toys later, also in an emergency situation say coast guard trying to locate me in the ocean there is a better chance of them spotting me. Not a likely situation, but I do live on the coast and have been known to fish out on boats. Other than playing with the Sidewinder in my house, I have not field tested this light, it is of sturdy build quality, and plenty bright for most tasks, I have stashed this puppy away in my BOB (Bug out bag for the sheep that don't understand survivalist lingo) as I EDC a streamlight PT2L. Pros are as follows 3 different visible LED lights suited for various tasks, 1 nonvisible LED infrared not very useful for the average bear 4 intensity settings for each LED and a strobe function for each. Sturdy build quality Lightweight Rotating head to adjust beam to area in need of lighting clip for attachment to pocket, hat, or other places, also has mounting hardware you may purchase seperatly. Uses 1 cr123a lithium battery with excellent battery life Cons are as follows Strobe feature is slow maybe two blinks per second, not very tactical. Infrared may or may not be useless to you intensity starts on low and progresses to high, again not very tactical All in all this is very easy to use, and a great product overall. I would recommend this to friends and would purchase again. I would however suggest looking through the available models before a purchase to find the LED combination that suits your needs best. ***Update*** After many trips in and out of the woods with this light and a few camping trips this has become my main light source for those times when a light is required, the Red LED has been very useful for walking in on early morning hunts without damaging your night vision and is equally good for reading without disturbing those that you sleep next to, the blue makes things like eyes and other reflective materials absolutely pop out at you and allows for following a blood trail at night as blood is very very black under the blue light, and the White LED is adequately bright for those times when your are not concered with OPSEC. The clip works very well to attach to the bill of a hat for hands free use. Bumped the review up to a full 5 stars. Also tried the Infared led out with a friends night vision gear and on the highest intensity it works well to 100 yards for your vision, and you can be seen like a frickin beacon from at least a mile when someone is looking at you through night vision equip, could be very handy for LEO/Military use or for night rescue.
