Happy with Cutter, Not Happy Seperate Charger/Battery

The cutter works well enough. I'm glad I don't have to use a knife when I'm trying to cut cardboard to a specific size. And I don't have to cut large pieces of cardboard on the floor with other pieces of cardboard underneath to prevent damage to the flooring. I don't like that I had to buy the battery seperate. After ordering the battery, it occured to me that the cutter and the seperate battery may not come with a charger, so I checked the listings closer and sure enough, neither included the charger, so I had to buy that seperately too. I bought other battery operated tools from other companies like Black and Decker and those companies always included at least one battery and the charger with the tool. I don't expect I'll buy more SKIL tools in the future.

Handy little gadget

If you are anything like me and get a lot of boxes in the mail and get tired of over flowing trash or recycle box, than I highly recommend this tool. Only reason for 4 stars, was because I had to buy the battery and charger separately

Customer service review after Blade guard failure

Great cutter when it was working then unfortunately the blade got stuck on the blade guard cutting a stubborn piece of cardboard. Time will tell if this tool is worth it so this review is mostly for the CS. there are plenty of reviews of the tool from others. I registered all my products on skils website to get their extended warranty up to 5 years. I was pleasantly surprised that the rep was able to get all the information needed after telling her my problem and they put in a WH shipping order in about 2 minutes of concise conversation. I didn't have to fumble on getting my purchase date, serial number, or anything because they had access to it. By far the least painful warranty call I have made. They have a call back queue feature (called me in less than 10 minutes) and as a bonus I spoke to someone in the states with no call delay and ease of communication. This makes me feel good about my other skil purchases and the other tools are still going strong.

Makes straight cuts, can't do curves

I was curious if this could make curved cuts. It cannot. It makes clean straight cuts in cardboard and blister pack plastic.

Read fully, Skil service is GREAT

I have many of these 12 volt skill tools, and they've all been great, this one had a small issue where the spinning blade was installed on the wrong side of the fixed blade, and did not cut well. After I called support they fully resolved the issue, they get on call quickly, they are intelligent and very helpful. I will continue to buy skill tools based on this. I am not a paid reviewer.
