DESCRIPTION MISLEADING

BUYER BEWARE!! Like other customers, it appears you purchase 2 of these ashtrays for $11 BUT that is not the case! You only receive one and apparently everyone receives the black ashtray! No choice!! PRICEY for one as I am sure it can be purchased somewhere else cheaper! Good study ashtray BUT costly! UPDATE: per seller, Amazon sets the price on items!!! ????????

Great Ashtray on the go!

I got one of these ashtrays 6 months ago and yesterday I finally broke its lip! So I am going to order a new one. That's absolutely the best I can get to have me smoking in my car as clean as possible! Pros: + It installs easily by the side window. So: + * Almost all the smoke goes outside, in compare to the ashtrays you have to put in the middle of your car. + * It doesn't distract you when driving. You can keep your eye sight straight and then point your cigarette to it. Cons: - It is not a match for cigars. Only cigarettes. And the small dents on sides are too small to hold your cigarette by itself; unless you don't care to push harder and have your cigarette butt shaped rectangular. - You have to first extinguish your cigarette first (by pushing to the top surface, next to the hole), and then throw it inside. Otherwise it will continue burning and burn other cigarette butts in, and consequently the nasty odor will come out of the hole! Hints: + As another reviewer has mentioned: Shake it! Shake it! [when you are done, to have ash goes in and butts not block the hole] + Do not pull your windows down to bottom or the wind will blow the ash into the car. + If you are sensitive to the odor, you have to clean it frequently. I do this job every week and to keep the odor inside, whenever I park my car, I clog the hole with a soft tissue (pushed!) so that the odor of dead cigarettes inside will not come up! + Still, if you are even more sensitive and want to keep it clean, you can get some aluminum foil and cover inside of the tube with it every time you clean it in your gas station. It will prevent cigarettes from touching the plastic area inside and you can just grab and smash the aluminum cover! + Extremely sensitive? Get one odor remover / fresh air sprays and spray on top and through the hole every time you clean it! You can get one at dollar tree for $1 and use it for many months to fight with the odor!

We kept this in our car for our mother who smokes. It worked well but the lid didn't like staying on.

Inexpensive, convenient, and works as advertised

Although smoking has gone out of fashion, there are still some of us around. Most cars today don't even have a lighter, the port for one is now for charging cell phones and the wiring for it is not heavy enough to use a lighter. If there is an ash tray, it's usually too small and in an awkward position. This is the only one I could find that hangs off the door. It works well, as described. Smokes go out almost instantly and there will be no smoke rising from it. Inexpensive, convenient, and works as advertised. How many products can you say that about?

Use is limited

For us social lepers known as smokers, this seemed like a godsend. Automobiles are no longer equipped with ashtrays, so smokers have a choice of tossing cigarettes out the window - which is an absolute no-no - or doing without, which can make for nervous drivers. This little gadget makes a wonderful ashtray, it fits perfectly in cup holders in the car, it is very handy and easy to use and clean - HOWEVER, do not ever leave it in the car overnight, or with the windows closed. These things have a stink to them that is just horrible. It is some sort of rotten plastic smell and it just permeates the car. We opened the car door the next morning and the smell was horrendous. I have washed it out with bleach, Pine-Sol, Fabreze, ammonia and hydrogen peroxide and that smell will not go away. It is much worse when exposed to heat or sunlight. It really is a great idea, and does all it says, but remove it when you leave the car.

I like this product

Sadly, I still smoke but am trying to kick the habit. I use this in my car and it really does eliminate the smell that comes from a regular ashtray. I don't have to get distracted in trying to put out my cigarette while driving, I just push the cigarette into the hole and out it goes. Don't have to worry about my cigarette falling onto my car floor because of the deep sections that hold the cigarette. I really like this. Keeps the smoke smell in my car to a minimum, which makes it easy to air out before it gets embedded in the car's fabric.

Great for the Non-Smoking Home

I know that title sounds odd, but neither my husband nor I smoke. However, my MIL does. I bought this ashtray for her to use outside when she smokes. I know it's made for cars, but I liked the size of it and figured she could use the handle to hook it on our deck railing. A friend who also has the same situation with her MIL had recommended a self extinguishing ashtray since it helps with the odor. She never did that but did like holding it when she smoked. It captured the stench for the butts much better than our regular ashtray did and I didn't have to worry about the them not being put out properly, which had been an issue in the past, or the kids or dog getting into it.

BEST ASHTRAY FOR TRUCKS -- BUT

I have been using older one for years -- fits door in a more stable way -- do not have to glue parts on. Not sure why they made it smaller than the older model -- just a little shorter -- but still way better than everything else out there because you do not have to glue it together to keep from losing parts. Might be molded a little tight -- but a grinder will take care of that -- main thing is it works better than everything else I have tried :-) Fred

Better than throwing from window

Does not extinguish cigarette. It smolders and stinks up your vehicle. My solution was to add water to the bottom of the cup.

I liked the width of the top which allows cigarette butts to stay in the ashtray for a brief time, but it's too short and I don't know what the handle is for. Maybe to hook onto the window? Not completely impressed.
