If you need to cut a bowl etc, this is a great tool to get the internal cutting going. Very nicely made and glad to have it.

Solid chuck

Works as advertised. My only real complaint is that it is pretty beefy. I use it on a Wen pen lathe, and probably should have gotten the 3/8 in version. I've had to finagle things to get the chuck and but to fit on the end if the piece is longer (10" or so). But, no stars off for this - mostly I'm just trying to do things on my little lathe that I probably shouldn't! The chuck itself is well built and seems like it will hold up more that adequately for my needs.

Works well enough. The Morse taper is a little too big and doesn't eject from tailstock easily. I have to run tailstock out and tap it out

Despite Amazon's "guaranteed fit" this will NOT fit the Shop Fox 1704 lathe

Probably a decent chuck. Made in China. I bought it for my benchtop lathe after reading on the lathe description that it was a guaranteed fit. Obviously nobody tried very hard to confirm (including me.) The Shop Fox requires a Morse Taper #1 quill, this chuck has a Morse Taper #2. My loss for trusting Amazon. My only excuse is that there's no brick and mortar store within 100 miles.

Solid piece, but has a few quirks.

Picked this up to go with my Mastercraft 12 inch lathe. The fact that this arrived with the MT #1 stock not mounted was a bit concerning, but a little gentle persuasion from a small rubber mallet got it properly seated in the chuck. This chuck is quite stiff out of the box, I had trouble rotating it with bare hands when securing a bit. I'm hoping that it will free itself up with further use. It is heavy piece, so if I were to order it again, I would probably go one size smaller for a hobby lathe.

Its ok, but I expected better

Don't know if it is the unit I got or all are the same, but mine seems to catch when using the chuck key ... not smooth at all. As if the gears inside have some roughness or so. I will try to grease it well and see, but overall it is ok, just not impressed with the fact it doesn't turn smoothly to open or close and not sure if it will last especially when exposed to wood dust and all the debris. Time will tell.
