Another Amazing Nesco Product!
This Sous Vide from Nesco is the perfect addition to our kitchen! Pairing it with our Nesco vacuum sealer (we use the VS-12 Deluxe Vacuum Sealer from Nesco) has made dinners at home a breeze! Strong enough to prepare enough food for the whole family. Serve your friends a rump roast and have them thinking it was prime rib with this Nesco Sous Vide!

Good value sous vide
I previously owned one of the Anova sous vide cookers, but lost it in a recent move. Those seem to have gotten quite pricey since I originally bought it and only a weak version is offered at the lower price points. This Nesco one is cheaper than Anova's cheapest one and much more powerful. While my Anova offered bluetooth and wifi connectivity, I hardly ever used it and don't miss it on the Nesco. I do miss the dial to set the temperature on my Anova. The Nesco has a button and it beeps constantly when changing the temperature.

Very interesting product...works well...not sure how useful for us though
So...from a purely product standpoint...this works just fine...we even temped the water to confirm it was setting at the correct temp as displayed on the unit...so from that stand point...its a perfect product that is easy to use and works as designed. As for the actual practical use of this...well...that is an individuals evaluation to determine its value. Wife and I are ex chefs, so we are familiar with the concept of Sous Viding. we just never really got into till the opportunity presented itself to try it...so what the hell...lets see what this is all about. Trust me, we have cooked in every possible way in our house and in restaurants we've worked...there is no ending of variation and techniques on cooking food. some are a bit more laborious to accomplish the end result...but its fun to experiment. It is in our opinion that this form of meal prep has its advantages for specific purposes...but not something we will be using daily at all. Don't get me wrong...it works...we tried a capribeye steak and we seasoned it, put some butter and herbs and sealed the bag and then cooked it in 138 degrees for 2 house...took it out...temped perfectly...seared it in a very, very hot cast iron pan...and enjoyed a very flavorful, juicy and cooked perfectly and tender piece of meat for that dinner. We think this will work well with fish, chicken...something that doesn't have a lot of fat...but you want to cook with some more flavors. so...in summary...this product works great...yup to you to determine if this is a good product for you...for me and my wife...its an interesting gadget that we will still be experimenting with but not something we are reaching for like a dependable pan/pot, or using our air fryer. p.s. We have other products from this brand and are very pleased with how they are holding up and how they are used...so that was another plus when getting this product.

Works great!
I've ben curious about this style of cooking for some time, and since I already had a vacuum sealer I got this to give it a go. I wound up having to buy a container though, as nothing I had was big enough! I think this stick is bigger than most, because the dedicated containers with lids sold for other brands were not deep enough. This Rubbermaid container worked perfectly. It took about 45 minutes to heat the water to temp. Our kitchen is cold, so we were hugging it for warmth as it heated up! The circulating motor is very quiet. Once the set temperature is reached, you just toss in the seasoned, vacuum sealed food, and cook for the length of time appropriate to your desired doneness. Much like a slow-cooker, you can do other things while it works quietly in the background. At the appointed time, remove the bags, open them, and sear the meat in a cast iron pan with a little high-temp oil. The pork chops came out just as advertised- tender, juicy, succulent, and perfectly done. This makes a nice addition to my choice of cooking methods, and I'm happy with the process and results.

Nice alternative from a long time brand
I’ve been cooking sous vide ever since the first Anova was released on the treasure truck and it’s my preferred method, replacing my instapot for nearly everything except slow cooking. While this is my as feature rich as my Anova, it works well and holds the temp w/in +/- 1 degree (for the short time I tested it). It seems to get the same volume of water to temp almost as quick as my Anova, so it would seem like the 1000w description is legit. I like the included quick mounting clamp, definitely a huge improvement over Anova. That said, I wish the barrel was a little longer so I didn’t have to use so much water. There’s a lot of wasted water when cooking sous vide. If you’re looking to get into sous vide, but not sure if it’s right for you, this is a good starter tool. If you’re experienced and looking to expand, I’d probably pass on this and recommend an upgraded Anova.
