Good device, but where it is located on tool makes it hard to see
Where this digital readout is located on lower front of planer makes it is hard to see and hard to read. As far of accurately measuring / track thick of planed wood, it appears to do a good job.

Resets every time you turn it off, hard to read, pain to program.
This thing is a piece of crap. It reverts to the measurement you calibrated the planer at every time you turn it off because zero button is the same button as the on off button. If you want to save batteries and not leave this on ALL THE TIME then you have to recalibrate this POS every time you turn it off. I'm going to see if my wixey on my lunchbox planer will work with my powermatic. This is a joke, it's low to the ground so you have to bend over to read the tiny display I don't know why they wouldn't put the display up higher. Programming this thing is a real pain. You have to hold the button 4 seconds to move to the next number (in mm that is 5 digits XXX.XXmm then another 4 seconds to get to "set" after you enter the numbers then you hit the button again. That is over 30 seconds just to scroll between numbers and get to set. The input for the numbers is so slow you have to do about numeral per second: eg if you want to set it to 9 you have to hit the button, wait, then do that 7 more times. You can't rapidly hit the button to get though all the numbers quickly. This gets frustrating when you have to calibrate it multiple times to get it right. With my wixey readout I plane a board, stick it in the wixey, and it measures the thickness of the board. You don't enter numbers or need a caliper to calibrate it and it is much faster.... oh yeah the wixey doesn't reset every-time you turn it off and it's $60.

poor design, hard to read, needs to be calibrated everytime it's turned on
Mine has to be recalibrated every time I turn it on, a process that requires planning a board and measuring it with machinist's calipers. Mounted on my Powermatic 15-in. planer the tiny display is less than 34 inches off the floor and hard to read - the display is small and vertical so generally I have to bend over and get within a couple feet to read it. The calibration procedure requires that you watch for the flashing of a tiny symbol at the top of the display, so I usually wind up sitting on the floor so I can face it directly when calibrating it. If it plugged into the wall I'd never turn it off, but it's battery operated and the batteries don't last long. I use it because it's a lot better than repeatedly using calipers to measure the planed boards, but it needs a larger display, that can be angled for easy viewing, and it really needs to maintain calibration settings when it's turned off. Clearly it was not tested by real users before it was sent to market. It's way too expensive for such a poor design.

WORST PRODUCT EVER!!!!!!
This is one true piece of #%&^$ crap. Unless you have the time and really enjoy planing a reference board to use to recalibrate this piece of crap every time you use it - really? Who wants to go through that process every time. Plus, you need to keep a supply of extra batteries on hand because it does not auto shut off - so if you leave it on the next time you come back it will be dead and need a new battery and re-calibrated. Every time you do turn the power off it resets to zero, does not remember your last setting. This thing is worthless which is very sad considering that a $30 digital caliber has more functionally than this crap. Whoever designed the functionally of this must have been mentally challenged.
