As I worked to free the spatula from the binds, the very tight binds, that held the spatula on its 'cardboard-covered-with-plastic' backing till finally, it was free. Immediately I was surprised, and really quite pleased how heavy - as in sturdy - as well as intentionally weighted for balance this pretty red and black spatula was. Gee! Normally I've first looked at the functionality of an item I've just bought. Not on this little baby did I. Really, Amazon shoppers, this Kitchenaid Classic Short Turner (spatula) stands out in the kitchen purchases I've made. And, believe me, it takes quite something to impress me as much as this item has. SO . . . If you would like to share the ecstasy, the joy, the pure 'ain't-this-a-fun-little-kitchen-tool?', may I be so bold as to suggest - you might consider getting one for yourself! It is so 'sturdy' and well balanced I just can't wait for Sunday to have the opportunity to turn those tiny (well, smallish) pancakes and eggs. When this is finished, the review, that is, I am going to see if Amazon has one in a larger size? It is genuinely THAT COOL! January 23, 2021 Having cooked with these tools a few months, I MUST revise one of the selling, and using points of the I previously wrote: These tools, all of them, or the 5 that I bought - the standard ones we all use - spatulas - small and large; spoons - regular and slotted; rubber scrapper - all are NOT, as I bragged at all WELL BALANCED!!! They are as balanced as a permanent resident of a "Home for the Psychotic"! I've flipped soup a good five feet, or more, across my kitchen; flipped really not at all solidified scrambled eggs on a fine silk blouse, not to mention an adjacent cabinet, wall, and the floor; flipped sauteing onions, and a lot of them, about three feet on a wall, a cabinet, the floor and me; to mention but a few of the more memorable messy, annoying situations. On an occasion when I left the tool in a pot or pan for a short, a very short time - long enough to pick up the salt shaker, or long enough to reach for another utensil, flipped onions over such a wide area that, three weeks later - and YES! My housekeeper does an excellent job of cleaning the kitchen (and the rest of the house). The handles on the exceptionally pretty, I purchased the red ones, KitchenAide Classic tools are SO very overweighted not a one of the utensils I bought a few months ago will stay in a pan, UNLESS that pan is very large and has very high sides. Frustrating? Better believe it is! Even knowing these tools will do their 'flipping-act' every time, IF the tool has not been placed on the counter in a utensil holder, you will undoubtedly find yourself house cleaning very soon thereafter!!! Do you enjoy cleaning yourself, cleaning messes on cabinets above you and the ones below as well as the floor? That should NOT have occurred? Am I buying more of these utensils? NOT on your life! In fact, I have placed these in the Salvation Army bag - with a warning regarding the overweighting problem attached to each tool. It is unpleasant for me to write a negative review. However and in this instance, I feel it warranted the above having earlier written a glowing review.
