Good Sensor for my T9

I was skeptical at first but this has helped keep one of my rooms about 2 degrees warmer than before. believe it or not but that made a difference in how comfortable the temp is.

Basically useless, will not stay priority room

We ordered one sensor for our bedroom. The thermostat is in the dining room and we don’t go spend time there. We just wanted to sleep comfortably without waking up. You don’t “install” anything. It just sticks to the wall with a sticky pad. I had no problems with the thermostat “finding” the sensor and installing it and it shows up on our system just fine. But every time I change the “priority” room to the bedroom, it switches back to the dining room within a few minutes. I still wake up multiple times at night to adjust the temperature because it’s either too hot or too cold in the bedroom - it never seems to care what this bedroom sensor says, and it will not prioritize it over the thermostat room, so why even have it? It’s pointless.

Does the expected job.

Does everything as expected. A digital temp read out would have been nice but I guess it keeps a simple look. Have had no connection issues. My one complaint is only the remote thermostat or the main thermostat can be priority at a time. As in it won’t decide which temp is abnormal on its own.

HomeKit Integration

WIth all the reviews here, thought I should provide a more current assessment of what is possible with this sensor. While it originally came out to support the thermostat and create zones around the home, it is important to note that each sensor is actually a combination of 3 sensors built-in: motion, humidity and temperature. Now that the Honeywell T9 Thermostat is compatible with HomeKit, imagine the possibilities these little units provide. For example, you can setup an automation in HomeKit that when your bedroom sensor detects motion between the hours of 11pm and midnight, you can trigger the desk lamp to turn on at 20% specifically, for a duration of 1 minute so you can find your way to bed while your spouse is asleep. Or, when the sensor in the family room detects the temperature has increased above 75 degrees, it can automatically trigger the smart switch that powers your ceiling fan to help cool the space until it reaches 72 degrees...and you can add to do this only while you are home. The possibilities are endless!!! This little add-on can do SO much more than people realize. I hope this helps someone think outside the box when considering a purchase.

Great Sensors, Work Great! -- Also Got T9 Thermostat!

We have a 2 story saltbox colonial house which we struggled keeping a balanced temperature. We owned a Honeywell Lyric Thermostat before, but we wanted to see if we could do zoned sensors. We brought the T9 to help keep the temperature correct on our second floor nursery. We also ended up buying 6 additional sensors to help balance the temperature across my upstairs office, nursery, master bedroom, and 3 downstairs rooms. To our pleasure the house has been very well balanced with temperature. I do see a 2-3 degree difference between what our nanny camera temp is reading and what the sensor is seeing. We adjusted the temperature up 2 degrees to make sure the nanny camera stayed above 69 degrees. My favorite thing is the schedule and selecting the zone priority. During the morning it prioritizes the breakfast area, the day priority is my office, around noon it prioritizes the nursery for my childs nap, after nap time it's back to my office, followed by downstairs around 5pm for dinner, and 7pm and on it balances the temp between our master bedroom and nursery. It does it on a schedule and automatically averages the temps. Completely worth the money without having to purchase dampers + controllers + air balancer (~$2000) for the the basement! While it may not integrate into the Home Kit yet, it is home kit compatible, and I'm hoping with enough reviews, we can get them to invest time to complete that effort! Thanks Honeywell + Resideo for creating a great product!

Best part about buying the thermostat was having this option

Very easy to install and has made all the difference. The bedrooms upstairs were warmer than the rest of the house because I have two systems and the one upstairs has the thermostat in a very central location so it was showing satisfied but the bedrooms were too warm, placed this in the main bedroom I cared about and have had zero problems with the bedrooms being too hot now !

SENSOR IS FINE - APP NEEDS LOTS OF WORK!!!

Easy to install; works as expected. It’s the APP that needs work to be more useful - for instance, it could easily SHOW on BOTH ‘T9’ Thermostat and phone WHICH SENSOR(s) it’s using to ‘DRIVE’ / CALCULATE the INSIDE TEMP, yet that’s BURIED in one of the settings or the ‘PRIORITY’ menu, which is NOT INTUITIVE that you need to go here to find this. There are lots of APP IMPROVEMENTS needed - both T9 and APP will show the ROOM NAME where Thermostat is located under the current inside temperature, making it completely misleading. App is VERY BUGGY TOO - it will often show BOTH WRONG INSIDE TEMP & TEMP SETTING, which requires killing app and starting it again. I have the latest iPhone 12 Pro Max and iOS version (14.7) as of write up if this review, and super fast Wifi, so neither of those are the issue (oh!, and I’m referring to this happening while I’m home - I have no way of validating if the readings are outdated once I’m not home - I can validate them at home because the app doesn’t match the thermostat)

Who knew that I needed this?

I have a two story home - the living area is on the upper floor and the bedrooms are on the first floor. The thermostat is on the upper floor which then only measures the temperature upstairs - this is problematic at night. I have had numerous nights when the heater would turn on and downstairs bedrooms would be too hot. We have had to experiment with adjusting the thermostat to find the right temperature to avoid sweating at night. Well, with home automation on the rise, Honeywell came out with the T-Series thermostats which has changed everything for us. I installed a Honeywell T9 thermostat upstairs and added this Smart Room Sensor in the downstairs Master Bedroom. I programmed the upstairs thermostat to monitor temps during the day and the Smart Room Sensor to monitor temps at nighttime. After all these years, no more hot nights!! I am also able to program everything remotely as well which is such a game changer. This was a great buy, and I would happily purchase this item again!

Useless for Canadian and European Smart Homes

The Thermostat on its own works fine and was easy to install. However do not expect it to work with Google Home or Amazon Alexa if you live outside the U.S. It does not understand Celsius and temperature information will show garbage in both the Google Home and Alexa Apps making it useless as a ‘smart’ device!
