Good Quality Product

I almost didn't buy this product because of the negative reviews. The puzzle I ordered came shrink wrapped and in perfect condition. The pieces and frame are made of thick wood and all of the pieces have knobs, not like in the picture. I called Melissa and Doug because I was concerned about the negative reviews. They told me that the pictures are not painted, but they have a high quality laminate on top. The pieces are not made to get wet, but they shouldn't fall apart if a little moist sometimes. In my opinion, a one year old should be doing puzzles with supervision so they can learn how to do a puzzle. The pieces should not be used as a chew or sucking toy for a long period of time. Even solid wood will warp if put in mouth and chewed on for a while. One year olds do like to put everything in their mouths though. My grandson did put the piece in his mouth for a few seconds a few times, and the piece did not start to fall apart. The knobs are solid wood and my grandson prefers to put the knobs in his mouth rather than the piece itself. It's reassuring to know that the knobs are screwed, not glued, so I don't have to worry about them falling off. I highly recommend this product. Just use it with supervision and don't allow your child to use the pieces as chewing or sucking toys.

Cute but already falling apart

My daughter has only used this puzzle a handful of times and the knobs are already loose and coming off the pieces. It also leaves "wood" dust behind all the time, which tells me the quality is so-so. I noticed it's made in china after the fact.

I bought several of these type of puzzle (same brand) and I can't tell if they're damaged, defective, or different version made this way. The listing and image on the back shows no "seams/cracks" between puzzle pieces. The reviewed images shows a mix of one with and without "seams/cracks"

The great grandchildren love it!

I have been buying Doug and Melissa toys for years. They never disappoint. The little ones always live playing with them. They also learn from them. Either hand eye coordination or counting, reading, etc. They are sturdy and last forever.

Melissa & Doug Vehicles Jumbo Knob Wooden Puzzle

Both grandsons love the puzzles. One was 1 1/2 and the other was 10 months. They're a couple of months older and the older grandson is now understanding that these puzzle pieces have more use than making noise as he is rhythmic so the piano I bought for him for Christmas is part of his little one-man band. He now is understanding how a puzzle works. The puzzles were terrific, well made, and a great eye-hand-motor skill for little boys. The younger child will be one this week. He too has play and story time each night and is rapidly figuring out the puzzle idea. Love that they are so well made.
