Great job on a couple of jumbo pumpkins

The shaft is plenty long to reach down into jumbo pumpkins. The length balanced well with my DeWalt 20V cordless drill. I ran it on the lower RPM range as the higher setting tended to create a little more splatter, but I was doing this in the kitchen sink for ergonomic reasons. If you have a good table outside…higher speeds aren’t a problem. While this looks like a standard beater from a handheld kitchen mixer, it is beefier and the leading edges are thinned down enough for good scraping action. The shaft is also a lot longer to reach down into a big pumpkin. To clean it, I periodically took it out of the drill and slid the mass of strings down off it. Not as much was woven into the loops of the device. When I was finished using it, I put it in the dishwasher and only one little fiber of pumpkin string remained which I just pulled off with my fingernail. I did all the pumpkin gutting and my kid carved their pumpkin for the first time. The kid had a great time and really is looking forward to upping their jackolantern art ideas for next year!

Far exceeded my expectations!

This thing is FANTASTIC! I gutted 29 pumpkins in well under 2 hours, at an average of 2-4 minutes per pumpkin. They ranged in size from little ones I could hold in the palm of my hand, to huge ones I could barely encircle with both arms, and the Pumpkin Gutter handled them all perfectly! It did take a little bit of getting used to, and a little trial and error to figure out the best way to use it. The first pumpkin took me 7-8 minutes, but once I got the hang of it, things started to go very quick, and each pumpkin only took a few minutes to completely gut. I made two passes on each pumpkin. One very quick one (30 seconds) to take care of the bulk of the strings and goo, and then, after dumping all of that out, another slightly more careful pass to take care of anything I missed. The Pumpkin Gutter did a better, more thorough job than I could ever do with just a scraper or a spoon, and it did it in a fraction of the time. In previous years, I could only do a dozen or so Jack-o'-lanterns, because gutting them was such a lengthy and monotonous process. Even just that many took me forever. This year I was able to single-handedly gut nearly 30 pumpkins in barely 2 hours, and it was was so super quick and easy that I plan to do even more next year! It was also actually less messy than gutting the old fashioned way. All of the mess pretty much stays inside the pumpkin while you're working with it, and then it's as simple as dumping it out into a trash can. There was almost no clean up needed afterward. I'd recommend this product to anyone who plans to carve more than a few pumpkins, and if you do 5+, this is a MUST HAVE. Gutting by hand isn't so bad if you're only doing a few, and it can even be part of the fun. But by the 3rd or 4th pumpkin, the fun is gone, and it just feels like a messy chore. The Pumpkin Gutter takes care of the time-consuming, tedious part of pumpkin carving quickly and easily. I honestly couldn't be more satisfied with this product. There'll never be another Halloween without it at my house!

Easy to use

Once you get the hang of it, it’s easy to use. Make sure you stop often to clean the guts off of it so that the guts don’t fling around. It’s just like using a hand mixer - don’t lift out of the pumpkin while it’s still spinning! We loved it - cleaned out 2 pumpkins within 5 minutes, if that.

major upgrade to pumpkin carving

So, this little gadget is great. I have 3 small kids and, for whatever absurd reason, they do NOT like the feeling of slimy pumpkin guts. Its really disappointing as a parent who hopef for brave and adventurous kids but, you get who you get with children and you do the best you can! So, attaching this to my drill not only allowed me to avoid the shrieks and protests of my mess-intolerant children but ALSO to speed up the process of “de-gutting” our pumpkins by a margin of about 30minutes. 30 minutes is a LOOooOoOOooonnNG time for a 6, 5 & 2 yr old. Its the difference of finishing the project or not. So, after using, it takes a little work to get the “gut fibers” off of the attachment but that 2minutes is absolutely worth the gains in patience and products. I also used this to thin the walls of the pumpkin where i intended to carve which also sped up the overall process. Bottom line, even if you use it once a year- this thing is worth it!

Does what it says it will

My husband said this worked perfectly to clean out pumpkins this year. We can’t wait to use it next Halloween!
