Great for training weave poles in Agility
Love that it folds up for storage. My dog doesn't mind running through it. And it is a great training aid because the distance between poles can be gradually changed to make a straight line (which is difficult for dogs).

Cool design and work great, but laborious to set up and take down
I waited until I'd used them an entire summer before writing this. I'm an experienced (25+ years) agility competitor with a very fast 9 lb. dog. Before I got two sets of these, I was using steel-based poles with the old (too narrow) spacing. The four base sections were super heavy to set up and move for mowing. I also had screw-in-the-ground poles to use as channel weaves and 2x2's, but those were laborious to set up. As soon as I spotted these new poles, I sold both of my old sets and got two sets of these to make 12 poles. I thought it might save my back, though that's debatable! PROs: The poles are very cleverly designed and good for what they are, which is practice backyard poles for dogs who are small or gentle weavers. My two sets look like new after a summer of use, and I expect them to last for years. Nothing sticks to them or stains them, even if left in rain or mud. They're like Teflon. My Papillon does not touch the poles when he weaves, so these work fine for us from a sturdiness perspective. They would not have worked for my now-retired Border Collie who was a fast weaver who knocked poles out of metal bases in his youth. The plastic bases of these weave poles would have been a smoking ruin after one session. Note: To those new to agility, do not get these poles and think you'll train your dog to weave slowly and more gently. That is not a good idea--you want to teach your dog FAST weaves from the start. The dog will NOT get faster with experience. But if you have a small dog or already have a slow weaver, these are great. The other things I love is that they are super lightweight. I could jog a mile with two sets of these in my arms, and I'm not a runner. :-) They also pack up and store in tiny places. I have mine in my "agility shed" in a repurposed kitchen cupboard on the wall. Can't do that with steel-based poles! CONs: The only major "con" is that I do find them VERY difficult to set up. They're great for bad backs when it comes to carrying them and storing them, but then you still have to stoop down to set them up and take them down. I only practice once a week, and then I take everything down for mowing before my next practice. So I have to set these up and take them down for 10 minutes of use. They open like a floppy accordion and you have to straighten the center part and open the legs on the correct sides, then stake each set down in six places. I find it very hard to get one set of 6 to stay straight as I'm staking them, much less two sets. After I carefully set them up, I'll sight down them and they are so crooked that I have to start over. Also, if you have two sets, there's nothing to tell how far apart to space them. I have to go get a yardstick to measure how much gap to leave between the sets of 6. To fix the "crookedness" and "gap between sets" issues, I'm thinking of taking a 24' piece of nylon strap material and marking it off in 2' increments. Then I'll stake that down at its ends to make a "straight line." Then when I un-accordion these weave pole bases, I'll be able to use that strap as a guide to make sure the bases are straight as I'm staking them down. The marks will also show how far apart to have the two sets. It would be great if this company would make these commercially and sell them here, hint hint! Anyway, I'm glad I have them and would get them again, even though they can be a pain. They still totally beat having full-sized steel poles to move around a backyard and the low cost is very affordable. To those living abroad and doing agility, these would be the best poles EVER to ship overseas or carry with you in a bag. (I've taken steel-based weaves to Turkey before--not fun!)

Great for training
I read the reviews before I purchased and someone else summed this up very nicely. This is a great item for training. It is lightweight, sets up and breaks down quickly and definitely allows your dog to work the weaves. Although the "flaps" that extend on the sides of the base can be adjusted to hold it up, the weaves are not as solid as metal would be and therefore, they can be knocked over if they are hit too hard by your dog... therefore, faster dogs will not do as well with this set up. The weaves include stakes, I haven't used those yet, but they may help for stabilizing. My dog and I have been doing agility for about a year. She competes at the novice level and weave poles have been one of her weaker obstacles... so she is not fast with these. As soon as I set this set up, she went through perfectly and much more smoothly than she had been navigating my home made PVC poles. I'm very happy with the product and expect I'll be back to buy another set at some point so that we can practice two sets of 6 or a 12 weave run. UPDATE: I've taken a few photos which may help give an idea of the set. One shows it set up in a straight line, the others show it folded up in the case and the case closed. These would have helped me visualize before purchasing... so I thought they might help someone else as well.

Excellent for the price point and can be arranged a bunch of different ways
I really like these for a dog and owner who are learning. You can use them as two-by-twos, or for the channel weave training method, or you line them up straight and can just add poles one by one: starting with 2, then, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Also the poles remove easily, and I use them for jump uprights and in cones for cavelettis. I will admit just stretching these out on the floor or grass won't work; they easily tip over and they just wobble too much, but it doesn't take much to stabilize them. The little arms have a hole so they can be staked to the ground outside. For indoors, I just arrange them then put a couple strips of masking tape over the base and they remain steady.

Awesome for Teaching the Mechanics of Weaving
This is a nice lightweight and portable set of six weaves poles set at 24" apart. It comes with a storage bag and is easily set up and taken down. I bought this to help teach my young agility dog how to do weave poles. I started them as offset and gradually moved the poles to in-line. In less than a week, she had the hang of it. She wasn't really getting the weave poles with guide wires and x-pen barriers. She was weaving wires and x-pens, not poles. This really did the trick in helping her figure it out. The whole point of using guides and x-pens is to teach the dogs to drive forward independently of you. I would suggest if you decide to use off-set poles working toward in-line to throw a ball or other some such desirable object to have the dog drive forward out of the weaves. Use it as a reward, not a lure. I would think twice about using these weave poles for my older, powerful, forward driving dog. If the poles were not well staked down, he would mangle the whole thing because it is very lightweight and would move too much with him. But are really great to take along to hotels or use in the house or garage for teaching young dogs or for gentle older dogs.

Great value, lightweight and fun.
These are great for my cocker spaniels. I’m not sure if they would be sturdy enough for a larger fast dog, but great venue for money.

Good inexpensive training set.
They're plastic so obviously not as solid as a competition quality set. Still, they held up just fine with my medium sized dog indoors. With staking outdoors could probably handle big dogs just fine. Nice that they can be used both indoors and outdoors. Worked well for the channel method. Ultimately I returned these because I want the more versatile 2x2 style poles, but if that wasn't necessary I would have kept them. Also a good price for an easy training set.

Not well made for the job it has to do.
They were easy to install. screws come loose and pieces fell apart. Had put heavy screws in. Was not as well built as the first set I bought. Being as the weave poles have to be ajusted as the puppy progresses, it is important to have a strong base for the poles.

Awesome Practice Weave Poles
These poles are easy to assemble, disassemble, and store in a neat bag. They are simple to rearrange for the dog while learning weaves as well, ex. 2 x 2 training. I have used outside on a windy day and they stayed up just fine. They are lightweight however, so they may not be great for a fast, large breed dog.

Useful for practicing weaves in small spaces
Useful for practicing weaves in small spaces. They do take a little bit to get used to and they don't really come with much in the way of instructions. We are using them for 2x2's and finally figured out how to do this with help from our agility instructor. Now they are quite handy. Work best on a firm surface (ie - a little challenging on thicker grass).
