Very pleased!
Very very pleased! Heavy duty and doesn't break the bank to buy! I've had a cheap Atwood downrigger that cost like $70 and I'm about to throw it away and order a second cannon! Unbelievably easy to use! I put the drag on really loose on my rod/reel and snap it to a 10 pound cannon weight and then you simply turn the handle a little bit and it allows clutch to slip and the ball to drop while the counter tells you how much feet you let out! My counter "wasn't working" and I was frustrated for a second.....the fix however was simply pushing the counter back further in it's slot so it's gears make contact with the gears of the wire wheel then it worked perfectly!! I will say I am glad I went with a 10 pound weight. I didn't know at the time but in the reading material that comes with the downrigger that a 10 pound weight doesn't have "blow back" at about 2 mph which is as fast as I tend to troll. That means when you let out 15 ft of line you are fishing right at or really really close to 15 ft instead of something like a 8 pound ball may only truly be fishing only 12 ft or something with further inaccuracy deeper you fish. One thing that was frustrating is that the down rigger model apparently doesn't come with the bolt and nut that gives you the option of hanging the weight close to the unit while driving, however one very quick phone call to cannon customer service and they informed me it doesn't come standard with the unit and they would be happy to send it to me free of charge. It arrived very shortly and was easy to bolt it. The reason they say it doesn't come with it is because they discourage driving down the road with the weight hanging in the unit and you would be safer driving with weight unclipped and sitting in the boat since this model isn't as heavy duty as the more expensive models. Bottom line, I love this thing and it's simple to use and assemble. I can mount up and descend the weight and lure to 20 ft in seconds! And retrieve the heavy weight very quickly and with no straining. Update: my second downrigger did not engage the line counter and turns out it came with the wrong gear size from the manufacture! I called the customer service and they sent me a new gear. The faulty unit came with a 1 inch gear and the gear it is suppose to be 1 1/8 inch. You can use a flathead screwdriver and pop the gear off and slide the right one on in seconds if this happens to anyone FYI. Poor quality control but at least cannon made it right by sending me the parts for free.

Very happy
Solid downriggers for the money. Trolled for 8 hours with a pair of these using 12 lb cannon balls trolling for bluefin out of Monterey California last Saturday. At 125 feet down they held up fine under the weight of the 12lb balls. The clutch is easy operate, not touchy and works great. Glad I went with the gimble mounts as well. The gimble mounts allow us to clear the gunnel rail so we could fight our big fish without obstruction. Very happy this these.

Quality Control Issue
Great product to use and certainly increased fish catching power. Ordered two and one of the units was perfect. The second I had to take apart and finish drilling the hole through the down rigger and remounting the spool because the factory failed to properly drill the hole and seat the screw as it should have been. Disappointing to say the least for a price point like this. I did contact the manufacturer and they were quick to willingly send any needed replacement items to correct the issue however they could.

I love this one
This is my second Cannon downrigger, my first is a portable unit that I used to clamp on my old boat. I love this one, the clutch mechanism is really handy. My only complaint is that it did not come with a line release to mount on the ball. I had to buy that separately and that really doesn't make sense as the downrigger is useless without it. It would make sense to include it with the unit even at an increased cost. I can understand not including the weight as there are various weights available depending on ones needs and I ordered what I needed but the weight doesn't include the release either. I am a Cannon fan and wouldn't consider buying another brand. I also bought a swivel base to mount on my new boat.

Only 1 issue
If the cable comes off the spool more than a few rounds due to over travel, it is near impossible to get it back on the spool

Old reliable manual
Couldn’t decide on the easi-troll or the uni-trolls to Mount on my 18’ Lund tyee. Decided on these since I didn’t need a longer boom. 12lbs max ball weight turned out plenty. Easy to lower the ball and hell of a lot more reliable than electrics. For what I ask my downriggers to do I have no complaints. Ran them as deep as 120’ for lake trout and as shallow as 20’ for walleye

Good Rigger for the price.
The riggers are built to be physically lite. They are also well thought out, and mount easily. The line counter works, although, it is kind of chintzy. I wish the mast were aluninum rather than steel, but the cable guide is nice. It is made of composite.

Love it!
Got the rigger yesterday, assembled and mounted it in little over an hour, and hit Lake Ontario for some kings with it this morning. Overall I'm really happy with it. The hand clutch took a couple mins to get the hang of, but once you do you'll be happy with how it works. The line counter is very accurate. Was able to mark the ball on my sonar and the depth matched perfectly with what the counter said. Was using a 12lb ball today and it handled it just fine, not sure if I'd push my luck with much bigger though. I'll definitely be ordering another one.

Exactly what I thought, came quicker than expected
Great product, instructions are pretty straight forward for set up. Product works great. Needs a couple of other small components to get up and running (weights and clips). When loosening handle to lower go slow with it as it will drop fast if you just loosen off quickly.

does the job but...
solid materials and appears well made. couple of things that could be improved upon. clutch release is very touchy, line goes down so fast with very little backwards movement of the handle that often the line release mechanism lets go. very frustrating. lanyard for the cannonball should be included, increase the price of the unit if required. the instructions for securing the terminator are confusing. holes A B and C appear to be holes that are used to clip the unit together after the wire is threaded. the holes that are used to thread the wire are very small and located in the top and bottom ends of the terminator. after an hour or so of trying to make this work I realized my error and finished the job. very easy once you figure it out unfortunately I ruined the terminator

Operates well for my small boat
I felt the clutch was hard to operate, kept my hand on the reel to lower the weight, but it runs well the base clamps on easily, there should be a left hand and right hand sides.
