Cover itself held up fine after first winter but straps failed terribly
We had almost 100" of snow this winter. The cover itself held up fine after its first winter but straps failed terribly, see photo. The straps obviously should have had several more passes of sewing to reinforce the bond to the cover. Cover would probably work fine in areas with no snow, but I would not recommend for snowy areas.

Complete waste of money
I purchased this cover last fall when we were closing our pool. We have had our pool for 16 years now, and this is the first spring that we have pulled it off, and it may as well have been uncovered all winter by the level of algae & contaminants in the pool. We noticed that this cover was not very watertight, and water seeped through it pretty much all winter. When we started to pull the cover off, we saw huge amounts of algae, and we could see sunlight through the cover.

Does the job- use pillows
Worked perfect. Used 3 pillows to keep it up off water all winter. It let the rain and snow in but the leaves, sticks and pecan tassels out. Just had to backwash the “free” water out of pool a couple times. Crystal clear in spring when cover came off.

Gets the job done
Cover is good for price. Did not like that you had to fill the bags with water and made it heavy; making it difficult to carry and place down in order to hold the cover down.

A bit of a gimmick but nice
The cover is well made with heavy stitching, reinforcements and grommets along the whole length. It's light and easy to manage. I installed the 20x40 ft model by myself. The one thing that troubles me is the "feature" that lets the water through. It was a major appeal for me as I don't like standing water I have to pump. However, it's not so much a special design of the tarp that lets rain water through and keeps pool water out. It's rather the fact that the mesh is loose. Because of that, it will also let the pool water seep through the cover if you install it loose standing on the water surface. I've observed significant evaporation in 40-60 degree temperatures. What the cover needs is to be pulled tight so that it doesn't touch the pool water. That means a lot of bags or better yet, using the grommets to secure it with ropes.

Durable material.
The material is very durable. It does catch water and if you use the water filled weight bags it will pull them in. Cannot install with one person. I thought with it being mesh the water would seep through but it doesn't.

Disappointed
We bought this cover because it would allow the water to pass through likr a sieve.==NOT. The water stayed on top of the cover and when we opened it this spring all the debris and water ended up in the pool. What a mess! We are familiar about covers and pools as we aren't newbies. The water never drained through so we walked it halfway down the pool . It was then too heavy == no choice but had to let it go into the pool. I think Blue Wave should reimburse all these people who had such a mess because of this. It took us 2 weeks to vacuum the pool . Maybe they should post something telling us how the water drains through?

Amazing
I purchased this cover in the fall of 2018. For 30 years I have pumped surface water off the old style cover and then spend $$$$$to replace water to the proper pool level. Water and sewage charge from our city is very expensive. Right now, as I look into the back yard, the cover has risen to the top of the pool. All is secure and I am looking forward to slipping the cover easily off when the weather warms. 5+ stars for this product. Looking forward to an easy start up with the chemical process! All looks terrific and I will add to this review once I open for the final results. .......June... have opened the pool with ease. Water level was up with no need to add expensive city water. Love it!

Not recommended!!
Probably the worse cover I have ever used. I have opened my pool for 10 years now clear every time till I used this cover which my pool guy recommended against. Opened to a black swampy inground pool that cost me hundred of dollars to get back to clean and clear again. The cover had torn at the seam along a 10 foot section. All of the dirt (no leaves or debris) was sitting on top and had dragged cover to bottom of shallow end preventing us from getting out cover without dumping everything onto brand new $5000 liner I installed at end of last season. We had to physically cut the cover to remove water a little at a time without getting all the silt into the pool. Tooks hours and hours to remove. The straps that hold the water bags in place tore off with such ease it was ridiculous and yes I also never noticed because I bought cover prior to closing pool that the warranty card had to be completed 10 days after purchase which obviously was months too late. I would not recommend this cover for an inground pool.

Flotation required for water to drain
We bought this winter cover for our pool last year . The idea that water would drain through is was attractive. However , we found that the cover started to sink and was at the bottom of the pool by January. We realized that the water only drains from parts that are held above the water. We solved the problem by stringing empty milk jugs across the pool ( 90 jugs this year on a 20x40ft pool)) to keep the cover up on the surface. This year, with the jugs in place, the cover is draining the water through and it should be easy to remove in spring.
