450 USD for a subpar radio eco-system

New NX line of Transmitters not the best. Same UI experience as older DX series + some added bling and they are charging upwards of 400 dollars! The software is buggy, UI is pathetic to be frank. The feeling of hardware itself is good, but there are so many design flaws in this radio. I will give a few examples. Text boundary on the LCD is hidden partially by the bezel. Scrolling is inconsistent, for example, one scroll click to the right moves one step forward in menu, but one scroll left moves two steps back. When you enter some menu sections, the contents and layout flicker and hesitate a few times before settling down. Same thing happens when sound is turned on - it will blip and blabber for a few secs when entering a menu. Okay, moving on, Wifi menu is a nightmare - freezes, deadlocks - I am already tired. Lets talk hardware quality. Gimbals are stiff out of box. But that's okay since they advertise it has adjustable gimbal tension. So I try to adjust tension, guess what - the aileron and rudder gimbal adjustment screw cannot be taken past a fixed limit. If you do, the gimbal itself gets stuck due to protruding adjustment screw, what a joke! Potentiometers > inaccurate since the unit I had had its own mind and the elevator readings jumped at will. Unsafe if you are relying on this to fly an expensive model. Charging port > micro usb - who uses micro USB nowadays? Frankly though, don't waste your money. Look elsewhere. I will not list options here just to keep the context and purpose of the review clear. But you can look at what majority of drone community use and make your own decision. Save your hard earned money! I am not saying don't buy Spektrum, but if you do, know what you are getting into, and know that there is whole new world outside of Spektrum ecosystem too.

Fantastic Transmitter

If you are looking at this transmitter, you likely already know what it’s capable of. I use it for 3 of my heli’s and two planes. It’s so easy to setup and endless amount of customization options, both for comfort and functionality. Tons of preprogrammed models for quick and easy BNF. Great with Real Flight Simulator also. Highly recommend.

Step up from the DX line

Nice transmitter for the money, great customer service though. Broke mine after having it about a week, totally my fault, sent in for service and received a brand new replacement. Can’t ask much more than that… Does have a learning curve after using a DX6g2 previously but has a familiar interface but with many new functions. 7th channel comes in very handy as well to keep safe select on a switch when the model has flaps and retracts in addition to the 4 standard channels. Love setting a switch for gps elevation and gps speed voice callouts. 4.5 out of 5. Buy a larger mah battery to keep from having to charge before every use, and buy a magnetic charging cable so you don’t damage the super fragile micro usb charge port from having to frequently charge the ridiculously cheesy 1s battery. The pros definitely outweigh the cons on this one though, highly recommend.

Easy to use

Got it to start replacing all my other radios including my super but old DX6i (2 of them) and a Graupner 18,, and others,,
