Does the job

Digging the little plug out is the worst part but it’s easy to fill and the umbrella is seated evenly.

It is not fancy, but I think it will work!

I filled it with about 25 pounds of sand that I got at Lowe’s. I just put it up so we’ll see but it seems like it’ll be good.

Cheap but works

Cheapest one I found on Amazon, but works with a light umbrella. Would recommend for a backyard, not a windy beach.

Good value

Overall, it’s a good product. The price is very reasonable and the quality is very good. There is about a 1” diameter hole drilled into the top deck, where you add the ballast. Sand is the way to go - not water, although you probably could. On the opposite side of the top deck, is a plug - taped down securely - that you insert into that hole. Perfect fit! Holds tight, but you can remove it. The hole that takes your umbrella goes from the very top to the bottom, so there is quite a bit of support. The metal stands we have, are generally metal tubes that the base of the umbrella goes into, and that support is about 18” - much more than this stand. So how does it hold an umbrella? Pretty well, actually. The weight with a sand ballast is good - although a good, strong wind could cause the umbrella to move. The stand has a sort of wing nut type screw, that simply applies pressure to the umbrella pole, to hold it firmly in place. But this is also the only issue I have with the product. The hole for the umbrella pole is not an exact fit. And really, how could it be? I doubt that there is a official umbrella pole diameter. So, said hole needs to be a big bigger to make sure that most poles will fit. The issue I have is that as you tighten the set screw, the pole will start to lean in one direction. That was my experience. As you tighten the screw, the umbrella pole will tilt. Now, to be fair, I found an easy solution. I just inserted a small wooden shim, and that prevented any deviation in the umbrella pole. I purchased two of these, and I am very pleased. Remember, the price is a fraction of a metal stand, and it will never rust. With just a tiny bit of work, you can correct the angle of the pole that may deflect without a shin. Or, you may find your pole is a perfect fit, and it will hold you umbrella straight up and down! Bottom line - good product at a very good price.

Great for the deck

Got this for a patio umbrella on the deck, I fill it with water every summer and empty it in the fall and it's worked great for years.

Umbrella base

Yeah its not bad for the price of it. You fill it with water or sand, I used water for convenience and its quite sturdy enough to hold the umbrella down, so all in all I was very happy with it.

Does the job!

Filled it with water, and attached theCorLiving PPU-230-U Tilting Patio Umbrella in Sand Gray to it without any trouble. Sometimes in high wind, the umbrella will spin a little (when it's open), but I don't keep the clamp too tight, so this is a small concern. It keeps the umbrella standing and fits well underneath my patio table.

It Works

Does what the description days. That being said, on the box it came in, it recommended not filling it with water. I used sand. Umbrella hasn't flown away yet.
