Vessel ratcheting screwdriver

The Vessel ratcheting screwdriver is definitely worth the $$$. I've watched many YouTube reviews on it and they all seemed good so I had to try a Japanese made screwdriver. Fits well into Phillip head screws but I'm almost positive it's JIS ( Japanese industry standard) which is actually better imo. Very comfortable and smooth ratcheting action. Next time I'm buying the 6 piece set.

Feels great in hand

I have had the vessel one’s that are manual and I have been very impressed, I have extra large hands and the ratchet ones fit me better but the ratchet is so smooth and works fantastic. I really like the fact that the ratchet separates and allows you to use it as a shorty Definitely recommend.

Nice large handle with smooth ratcheting

This screwdriver has a nice comfortable large handle with a good ratcheting mechanism and works well. I only give it 4 stars primarily because it doesn't come with add'l drivers unless you buy their kit. The shaft is built into the component that connects to the screwdriver handle. While this works well, it also makes this a much more expensive ratcheting screwdriver if you add add'l replacement blades, as they call them.

A straight up #2 Phillips

First of all, the product construction and finish is really German quality from a Japanese company. The ergonomics and engineering is pretty astounding. Movements are almost Swiss like. I also own SnapOn and the QC is very similar at a glance. My only criticism is that I wish they made the main driver interchangeable, Only the stubby is. That said, it is very comfortable and solid feeling in hand. Lastly, I’m not sure who picks colors at Vessel, but wish these came in darker colors. These are the same colors as a coral snake LOL. At least it stands out in a tool box. I don’t know about its durability yet or Vessel’s warranty, but I have high hopes.

Japanese Quality

Love the screwdriver, the ratcheting action is top notch. First time using this type of handle, they are super comfortable, particularly for the convenience of two fingers to fast drive in the screw. They are also much better on biting phillips screw than all the screwdrivers I have ever used.

Just amazing.

Let's start with the unknowns. Not sure how durable this thing. What I do know It feels great in the hand. The ratcheting mechanism has very little drag. The bit almost feels like it's a solid fixed screwdriver. Got it thinking it might be better on my wrist than a basic screw driver. Worth it.

Fabulous in so many ways

Lovely quality, fit and finish as I've come to expect from Vessel. The drivers fit nicely in the hand and the blades are replaceable. The bonus feature is that if you take the blade off, the ratcheting mechanism is in the ball part and this connects to the blade via a hexagonal shaft (lovely suction pop noise as you separate them). This shaft in the handle/head will accept a standard hex bit so you can turn all your hex bits into ratcheting models. Excellent!

Great screwdriver but it’s a little fiddly and the handle won’t be for everyone.

Saw this screwdriver reviewed on one of my favourite YouTube channels and it seemed to be a fantastic tool. Right out of the packaging, this is a a very well made and feels like good quality. The handle has a rubber finish that feels very comfortable and there is also rubber on the shaft allowing you to grip the ball of the handle in your palm and place your fingers further down for one handed operation. Although it is listed as a JIS size it actually fits PH2 and PZ2 screws fine in my opinion and didn’t seem to ruin any screw heads while I was testing it out as some other reviews have stated and to be honest, if you are having to apply so much pressure that you are damaging a screw head you should probably be using an impact driver. The ratchet on this is absolutely fantastic and allows you to remove and install screws very easily with minimal effort. The only grumble about the ratchet is that the selector can be nudged quite easily if your not careful which does become annoying until you work out a method of hand placement that prevents this. The handle design is also slightly different to any other screwdriver I have used in the past a took a bit of time to get used to but once you have the technique down it’s very comfortable. This screwdriver also has the added bonus of being able to separate and be used as a ratcheting stubby screwdriver which is incredible useful. It takes standard 1/4inch bits and holds them tight, very tight in fact and on a couple of occasions I have had to pull them out with pliers! It seems to be loosening with time though and the bits pop in and out pretty easily now. Overall this is a great quality tool which offers multiple features at a good price and once you have moved past the handle feeling different in your hand and the ratchet selection being slightly in the way it’s a brilliant screwdriver.

Excellent!

I paid about 16 pounds for this at the time of writing and I have got to say I am very impressed. The screwdriver is well built enough for the majority of household DIY tasks. I find the ball handle fits my hand very comfortably, the fact you can use your thumbs to turn the shaft makes this screwdriver great for more precise tasks too. The tip is magnetic and hols screws well. You can remove the blade from the ratchet and put any standard 1/4 size bit into the ratchet to make it a stubby ratcheting screwdriver, be warned that you will need a set of pliers handy to pry the bit out once it's in there though. The rachet is very smooth can be reversed and locked. If you intend to use the screwdriver locked be aware that there is some slop, but no more so than others. The only negative thing I have to say about this product is that the full range of replacement blades does not appear to be available to purchase in the UK, but that said, if all you want is a ratchetting Phillips 2 screwdriver, then look no further!
