quality athetic insole, not for me though
I tried these insoles (in new shoes) off and on over the course of several weeks to test between these and others. I really like the feel of them in my shoes, but I have really really long work days, on my feet all day manual labor type. They are VERY supportive, which I liked, however, don't offer much cushioning. Don't get me wrong, these would protect you well from large impacts, the problem for me is the continual impacts all day long, these don't offer me the protection I need on hard pavement and concrete floors. I did notice an improvement from standard and insoles, and "other" Dr. insoles (one size cut to fit off the shelf). My body was less strained by comparison to those basic insoles. Prior to trying any other fitted insoles, I felt pretty good about the shock doctor 2 insoles except for one major feature. The large toe has very little to no cushioning, basically just fabric over hard (yet flexible) plastic. This is supposed to be the major advantage of these insole, however I found it to be its short-coming. My big toes hurt a lot by the end of the day. I think if the plastic portion of this insole ended just before the big toe, this would be the perfect athletic insole, especially on the playing field; in addition, with more cushioning, it could have been the perfect insole. Ultimately, I tried another insole - Sof Sole Men's Airr Orthotic Performance Insole (look for my review of it on the product page), also available here on Amazon, and they provided me with the right balance of support and cushioning from impact, though the reviews on those are correct in that they run a bit narrow. My take on the Shock Doctor Ultra 2: Likes: -supportive -form fitting, well sized -quality materials and fabrics -afforable semi custom insole -nice color -better than basic insoles or "other" Dr. insoles Dislikes: -big toe pain (from hard plastic) -minimum cushioning -insole could have been designed better -suffered from impacts by the end of the day

Shock Doctor Ultra 2 Insole, by Shock Doctor. The "Shock Doctor Ultra2" shoe insole is a work in progress. The Ultra2 model includes a raised "Metatarsal Dome" next to the arch support, that feels like a rock in your shoe and will leave you with a sore foot on the lower (outer) side of the arch area. This is made more painful by the change in material on the corresponding underside area of the insole that compresses under your weight, but leaves your foot feeling the change from the red sponge rubber dome to the surrounding black sole area. I am not sure how to try to salvage this disaster, as returning things through the mail is a nuisance. Maybe I could try a little fill-in with some soft silicone glue applied around the excessively raised "Metatarsal Dome" area on the top of the insole. (Note: After a couple of months of use as is, the "Metatarsal Dome" has smoothed out a bit and is not as painful as it was when it was new.) On the plus side, I do like the full length arch support, and the heel cup as well. I also like the "Core Climate Control" sponge rubber pad under the outer ball area of the foot to make it a little easier to stand for long periods of time on hard floors, something the older model insole lacked. The only problem is, it hardens over time, eventually making it useless. The insole also needs some padding under the big toe and under the ball at the base of the big toe, for standing on hard floors. The insoles also need more padding under the small toes. Good inserts vs spenco, superfeet, pinnacle, pedag.
Shock doctor insert not bad. I have tried super feet green, sorbothane ultra, spenco polysorb total, pinnacle power step, pedag inserts. I am a large man and these were all tried in Merrill jungle moc's. Super feet are the hardest, clean up nicest, but cause your feet to sweat the most. Longest lasting of all inserts. surface hard not cloth covered like others. I rate these as good. $36 Sorbothane ultra were the softest, had a nice foam feeling. Only had these two weeks but are comfortable. Don't have the support of super feet, shock doctor, pinnicale, or spenco. Thickest also. Not sure how they will hold up during cleaning. will update this after break in. $40 (also most expensive) Spenco polysorb total. Cloth covered that is anti micro to hold down odors. Two problems I have experienced are the cloth near the heel has come unglued making wrinkles (I can't Stand) and the other the problem the plastic arch has cracked in left shoe in two diff pairs. These clean up nice but with cloth pealing and arch cracking I wouldn't buy them again. $24 Pinnacle power step is a cloth covered support insert. These are ok supports that are well made and clean up nice. Support isn't as strong as the shock doctor, supperfeet or spenco. I rate these as average. $22 Pedag inserts were a natural product. I did not like these at all and rate them average to poor. (did not like them so they had shortest time in shoes) $13 Shock doctors are a cloth covered I sert with strong support. They clean up nice just like spenco and pinnacle. The shock doctor ultra's are my favorite insert currently. I have purchased 3 pairs for my shoes. I rate these as good. $30

My podiatrist recommended these to me after having a torn ligament in my foot. I've had inserts from unnamed big box store before that didn't do much except cushion the ride a little. I've had these for several months now and can say that I'm quite surprised at how well they work. Will they aren't as cushioned as had I expected, they have changed the way I walk to a much more neutral position. Not sure how this is accomplished but it works. Wish I'd had these back in my running days. Maybe if my foot heals completely I can attempt running again. Also, my podiatrist wash "shocked" that I had gotten them $10 cheaper than he had mentioned to me. Thanks Amazon!

厚みに注意
旧シリーズのこれより少し安価なものを 軽登山靴の中に入れて何年も使っており、とても良いので 今回こちらに買い替えてみましたが。 こちらの方が1〜2mm厚かったんですね。 たった1〜2mmが大違いで登山靴が大変窮屈になり 親指の付け根(足裏の、猫でいう肉球のあたり)と小指の側面を傷めてしまいました。 古いのに戻したらぴったりで快適。 結局、普段履きのローカットシューズに入れて使っています。 そうするとなんだか足が重苦しいような…。 高いから良いわけではなかったようで、ややがっかりでした。

いいです、これ！
インナーを比較するために、このSHOCK DOCTOR SP0991、SOFSOLE Air L 17026、DSISソルボランニングの３種を購入し比較しました。 用途は、主にウォーキング、軽いジョギングです。 結果、足の疲れがいちばん少なかったのがこのSHOCK DOCTOR SP0991でした。 最初、ほかの２種に比べインソール全体が硬いことが気になっていたのですが、なんのなんの… この硬さが２０キロ程度歩いても、足裏、ひざが痛くなりませんでした。 人それぞれ差はあろうかと思いますが、私個人としてはお勧めできるインナーだと思いました。

登山で使用感想
MERRELL Chameleon 5 Mid Ventilator GORE-TEX M42227 00 (Dark Olive/Golden Palm/7.5) に使用。 ほどよい固さに完璧なフィット感、歩き疲れをかなり軽減してくれます。 スニーカー程度なら１足買えちゃう価格ですが、登山で本気で行くステージに関しては有効かと。

意識せずに
ココの製品は色々使いましたが、一番上のクラスである この製品、最初はいたときはこれといってクッションが効いてるとか 反発が低いという感じは受けないのですが、何度もはいて長時間 使っていると足の裏、ふくらはぎに疲れが少ないことに気づきます。 圧力が分散されているのかな、また靴を変えるときはこれをいれたいですね。

ショックドクターのインソールをいろいろ試し始めてから拇指球の痛みがなくなった。なかでも、このSP0991がいちばん自分の足に合うようだ。とくにヒールのフィット感がよく、使い分けている山靴の特性が、それぞれに引き出せているように感じる。
