Not all Groomsman are the same inside

The media could not be loaded. See my attached photos and vids RE: battery replacement. I've been using the Wahl Groomsman for over 20 years since college, and my dad had been using it for as long as I can remember since the 1990s or before so I've had a lot of experience with this item. My current model is the 9918D (Made in China) which I purchased on Amazon in 2018. This is the 4th or 5th model of the same name I've purchased. They currently last me about 3 years before the battery dies. My original model would work while plugged in, and I got almost 10 years out of it. I've also successfully taken them apart and modified them to work with AA rechargeable NiMH batteries as well as a single CR123A 3v lithium battery, and a rechargeable 600mAh 2.4v Ni-Cd. My current trimmer does not work while plugged in and the battery does not hold a charge. I'm now a dad of two, and I don't have the time to mod stuff like I used to, I just need them to work. I've noticed that there's a glossy metal model, a brushed aluminum model, and a model that comes with a nose trimmer. They look almost identical but the Model ID changes if you read the small print. It seems some have the red safety button to prevent the switch from activating in storage and some do not. Some work while plugged in and some do not. It's a great trimmer, especially because the head is small enough to trim around angled sideburns and handlebar mustaches without overcutting, yet still large enough to trim a whole face. I just wish it was made with the same quality and consistency that it used to. I recently bought a larger Remington model that works while plugged in but it's a bit big to maneuver around goatee areas so I miss the Groomsman. I'm going to purchase another Groomsman, but not this version, but rather the brushed aluminum one (Model #5xxx) that comes with the nose trimmer (which I don't need) but I think that one is made in Vietnam and has the ability to work while plugged in. I may add to this review if I learn any specifics. EDIT: instead of paying another 20 something dollars I just purchased an $8 nicad replacement, see pics.

My Wahl shaver died. This is a good replacement.

My Wahl shaver has lasted many years, but recently there have been problems with the power on switch. So I purchased this lightweight replacement shaver. Didn't realize it was battery powered, until I got it. 1. I gives me a much closer shave than my old one. 2. I is a lot quieter. I'm pleased with it, plus I now have something that I can travel with.

Just what I needed. No more hair bumps.

I was looking for a shaver that DID'NT give me that baby smooth shave, because every time I do, I have to deal with ingrown hair. And a lot of you men know what a problem that is. But this shaver, using it without a guide will shave you extremely close, leaving just enough hair above the surface that you wont have to deal with ingrown hair bumps. It's not so much of a 5 o'clock, more like a 4 o'clock shadow because it shave you that close, without overdoing it.

Decent trimmer for a good price

Wahl is a reputable brand, so I didn't hesitate to order this years ago. It lasted me over 5 years of consistent use when one day it stopped working for no discernible reason — no big deal, it served its purpose well enough. I did end up going with a Philips trimmer this time around though.

Satisfactory

For many years, we have trusted in Wahl’s capacity to deliver quality products and this item is no exception; it was bought as an overdue replacement for a nearly identical years-old Wahl trimmer that eventually broke down. We have found nothing wrong with it so far and it works as expected. While not the most ergonomic trimmer out there, it’s acceptable for the price.

No la mejor pero si muy buena

Es una buena rasuradora con sus pros y sus contras, los enlisto: PROs: -Es de bateria recargable y una carga rinde 3 o 4 usos -Se puede usar mientras se carga -Tiene varios peines de distintas medidas. El peine ajustable funciona bien. -El botón de encendido tiene un segurito para evitar que se encienda sola cuando la llevas en la maleta -Viene con una bolsa de viaje paras echar la maquina y accesorios Contras: -Es pequeña así que la rebajada de la barba toma algo de tiempo -No es buena para perfilar. Cuando el vello es muy corto, hay que pasar la maquina varias veces para rasurarlo. -Tarda mucho en cargar, ¿cuánto? no lo se, una vez la deje conectada 24 horas y no se apagó el led que indica que se está cargando lo cual es preocupante porque creo que no corta la carga, normalmente la dejo cuando me voy a dormir y la desconecto en la mañana.

Perfecta para el cuidado personal

Compré esta máquina después de haber comprado erróneamente laTimco X 48 Delineador Multi-Usos 8 en 1, Gris Metálico buscando sólo ahorrar dinero. Las máquinas baratas no tienen buenos motores, el corazón de este tipo de aparatos, y por lo tanto tienen un mal desempeño para cortar bello de normal a grueso. Esta máquina tiene un desempeño suficiente para cortar o mantener el bello facial o corporal de normal a grueso sin problemas. No es una máquina de lujo ni debería ser juzgada como tal tomando en cuenta su precio. Con dos o tres pases por area, corta el bello de manera bastante uniforme y sin tener que hacer movimientos lentos, la potencia del motor es suficiente para que no tardar demasiado pero sin ser un motor ruidoso o que deje las manos entumidas. Los accesorios son de calidad aceptable y suficientes para realizar el cuidado de barba o cabello (yo uso un estilo similar al "beard and fade" que pueden encontrar en google) he usado los peines de tamaño | y || y el peine variable sin problemas. Le bajaría media estrella a la calificación debido a que la batería interna no es de litio, es NICd creo, y porque la bolsa de viaje es de mala calidad. Pero la bolsa no la voy a usar y la batería de litio aumentaría bastante el costo.

Buena maquina.

Me encanta esta maquinita, la uso para cortar mi barba y bigote y sin lugar a dudas la adoro. Pienso que la batería no es muy buena, pues si la uso desconectada pierde potencia rápidamente, recomiendo que la compren si la van a usar conectada, si piensan usarla de forma inalámbrica es mejor no hacerlo. Otra cosa que vale la pena mencionar es que no olviden lubricarla pues en caso contrario se deteriorara rápidamente y dejara de funcionar antes de lo esperado, más si se usa en lugares húmedos como el cuarto de baño.

Buen producto. A mi gusto le hacen falta un par de accesorios.

Esta marca es la mejor para trimmers. Antes de esta tuve una de otra marca (Remington) y no me duró la pila recargable. Esta Wahl está muy bien, y ya había tenido otra Wahl pero de pilas. Potencia aceptable, es algo ruidosa pero el corte es terso y sin pellizcar. La pila me ha durado mucho y sólo la he tenido que recargar una vez y la uso con regularidad para recortarme bigote y barba. Mi única observación es que el paquete no trae los accesorios para cortar pelos de la nariz y oídos. Esto lo extraño, ya que en mi vieja Wahl de pilas tenía estos accesorios que facilitan la vida de uno.

Buen herramienta.

Es cierto que la batería le dura mucho, en todo sentido es muy completo, y es la única que encontré que puedes usar mientras se carga, una utilidad extra muy necesaria para varios casos. El único pero que le pongo es que las navajas son muy pequeñas y estrechas, aunque ciertamente no entorpece su funcionamiento, sólo tal vez hace el proceso un poco más lento.
