nice but

for a pitcher its all about the seams and we were very disappointed that the colored ball lacked any gripping seams, thankfully the yellow one is better with the raised seams, such a great concept, very visual for the pitcher and catcher and it helped alot, just wish the seams were better designed, would make a big difference

Takes some practice

The color changing from striped to solid is nice benefit to literally see if the spin and speed on the ball is good. A great training aid. Give it a few tries to get the hang of it, and what it looks likes for the different pitches.

Very cool and simple concept that is well executed.

When my wife first showed me these on Vine we wanted to order them for one of our younger household members who is just getting into Softball. I didn't fully read the description and assumed there was some kind of electronic that would change the color only to be both surprised and impressed that they do it by simply changing how your eyes see the colors. For the blue/red one - Since adding blue to red produces purple, the ball has alternating stripes of red and blue so when you throw the ball in a way that it spins properly, your eyes see it as purple. No electronics, no magic, just the simple act of your eyes not being fast enough to see the ball spinning. For the yellow/black one - This one is more designed to show you where to place your fingers but accomplishes the same thing. These are not as big as regulation softballs but allow you to get the technique down which is the important part which you can then apply to a regulation sized ball when you play. Overall they worked well. We tried to get a picture of the ball as it went through the air but with a phone camera it was difficult so we posted a photo of it spinning on our kitchen counter so you can see what it looks like. It actually turns even more purple when it flies through the air. As we were very impressed with the design and how it was implemented, we give this a 5-star review and definitely recommend it. We are very happy with them.

Helpful for learning

The red/blue ball is very helpful for my rec softball league. We are recruiting new players and not all of them throw properly. This helps show them when they are and aren't doing it right.

Spin Vision

I love this set from Sklz, it is so simple, yet absolutely ingenious. They are the same size and weight as your typical softballs, the only difference is the color design. The red and blue ball spins purple when you get the right velocity and throw off. It helps you visually make adjustments to your pitches. The yellow ball has a black mark on it for finger placement. Whoever came up with this concept, really nailed it. A lot of trainers can watch the spin of your ball to see where you need improvement, this just makes it glaringly more obvious. Amazing.

Great for practice

Each of these balls serve their own purpose: one for hand position and the other for speed. For beginners or younger players, this is a great tool to help teach proper form. They really work as intended, too, and are the normal size and weight of a softball, so the learned skills transfer to game day.

Great high visibility softballs.

These feel great and are good for tossing around in the yard. Not 100% sure how they would hold up over time for actual play, but are great for training and practice.
