Works great

I am a female homeowner, who knows nothing about electricity, outlets and panel boxes. I had several outlets around my kitchen counters that stopped working, making it difficult to use my countertop appliances. I was just about to call an electrician, then thought, “I wonder if they make an outlet tester?” Went to Amazon and found this and really appreciate the reviews of electricians that keep this in their tool bag to test their work, but it also had reviews from homeowners like me. I ordered it, watched a “how to use” video, tested my outlets, no lights came on, pushed the white button on the outlet, and “WHAM”, it worked. Spent $10 and saved hundreds, which an electrician would have charged. Ignorance is bliss … but an educated mind is priceless!! ???? Don’t hesitate to buy this product!

Good outlet tester but beware of innacurate reading

This is a good tester aside from the fact some readings may give false positives. It told me i had hot/ground reverse when i really had a missing neutral.

Good Tester!

Good tester, not a lot of flash but it does its job and is holding up well. It can be a bit hard to read in bright light but once you're familiar with the correct lights on the tester you can adapt by shading with your hand. I use it daily, not a diy but professionally, so for the price great deal. All testers break and wear out with use, this one has done very well so far and has the added GFCI testing feature plus it's small and easy to carry.

Bonito pero ...

No sé que tan correcto sea , cada enchufe de la casa incluso regulador ,extensiones y supresor de picos todos los marca como neutro invertido con línea osea rojo y naranja en medio. No se si toda la instalación eléctrica está mal o el aparato no funciona :/ veré en otras casas y locales si da otro resultado o no

Very handy tool

The Southwire 40022S Receptacle Tester is a handy tool. Having the legend printed on both sides of the tester makes it easy when outlets are installed upside down. The GFCI test button is very helpful when testing a GFCI that's installed upstream on a circuit with plain receptacles.

Well Designed Tester With GFCI Test

This is a well made tester which has helped me identify faulty wiring. It is worth the small premium over some cheaper units, as it includes a GFCI test button and has the legend on both sides of the device.

Great little tester, quick and easy!

I already found two plugs with hot and neutral reversed in my home (poor electrician) - so it paid for itself. Every home owner should have one of these!
