Long lasting system
Our first GE RO filter lasted 14.5 years before the storage tank wouldn’t store enough water -a spring or bladder failure I suppose. This new one is identical except the spigot is a new design. Some have faulted the new spigot design but it works perfect for us. Maybe they didn’t install it correctly. The directions don’t remind you to put the gaskets in place before connecting the tubes to the spigot (or else the gaskets can’t be put in their correct positions).

DONT DO IT! GE SHOULD BE ASHAMED
I would not buy this again! I replaced my old version, same model number, bladder went bad in the reservoir. I thought it would be an easy update. No. Different install w different faucet (and a big bulky clumsy one at that); still had to drill out more sink. Handle is clumsy, not elegant like prior version, too big and is up for off, easy to bump and turn on. The reminder battery screen is easily pulled out when cleaning with a towel and the battery falls...into the wet sink. Air vent LEAKS too often and is not clogged. And, replacing filters is a bear, in getting the filters removed! I would gladly pay $200 more for a newer tech, simple for the install and maintenance. I kept this only because I was too far into the replacement, and I only bought this model because I thought it would be an easy replacement install. LEAKS THROUGH AIR VENT IN FAUCET. DIRECTIONS SAY IT MUST BE CLOGGED. IT IS NOT. OTHERS HAVE THIS EXPERIENCE. DON'T BUY THIS FILTER. UPDATE: Just called GE. They refuse to send a new spigot without a tech support person visiting the home (for a $170 item). If the tech says the plumb is off by 1 degree, or some other defect of installation, I would have to pay for the tech, at over $100 per hour. Ridiculous. And the faucet leaks in many of the reviews! Spend the extra $50 and buy something else. UPDATE2: GE sent the tech, he "fixed" until it leaked again next day. They said it was fixed. I sent pics of the leak. They said call the tech for another appointment. I bought this in FEB and it is SEPTEMBER and still does not work. When it does not leak, it works, but it leaks. THE GOOD REVIEWS MAY BE OLD. THIS IS A NEW FAUCET DESIGN AND A LOT OF OTHERS HAVE ISSUES, EVEN TO GO SO FAR AS TO BUY A THIRD PARTY FAUCET. MY EXPERIENCE IS TERRIBLE FOR THIS VERSION, WORSE THAN A ZERO, BECAUSE IT WASTED MY TIME AND MONEY. WILL BUY A MORE EXPENSIVE VERSION AND GET A BETTER VALUE. UPDATE 3: GE service tech was not there on time at 7pm, so called and cancelled. He then texted me that my complaining that he wanted to fix my faucet at 830 at night (when 1.5H late) caused him to give up and quit, he texted me this information, which is simply harassing me. I just wanted my faucet to work after months and months. After getting nasty texts from the former service tech, I just tossed the GE and ate the cost. I bought the APEC and it has a simple elegant faucet, no leaks and went right up with a 3+2 filter system. The 90 version. Don't screw around with GE, they should be ashamed to produce this old unit, getting worse design and not better. It became a better decision to throw away the purchase price than to continue to deal with GE. Go with the APEC!

Been Using This Model for Fifteen Years
This is probably not the best RO system on the market, but it's been around a long time. I used this RO model for 15 years, but I'm on my third unit. It seems the bladder tanks develop leaks and the system stops working. Maybe a replacement tank is available, but a new unit comes with the RO filter and pre-and post-filters, so I buy the whole system. This is a basic model with a single RO filter and two carbon filters. It seems newer RO systems have significantly more filters. I use only GE filters because the non-OEM filters do not last. I stopped using the post-filter a long time ago, using only the pre-filter. Filtering RO water doesn't make sense to me. This RO system's carbon filters are frustrating to replace. The filter container is full of water, and water leaking seems inevitable because it unscrews from the bottom.

Refills have such longevity, they are reasonbly priced
The reason why I bought this is because I had the first GE model and it had defective automatic shut off valve. Mine was so old, about 20 years, they no longer made it. Was going to do some splicing and fitting when I decided to just get a new system. So I paid the $167 for the new one and installed it. Water taste great and my ice is crystal clear. I know when I replace membrane and filters I expect to pay approximately $30.

RO faucet air-gap brass piece has BROKEN 5X in the past 3-4 years! All other parts work fine. I'd stay STAY AWAY from GE faucets
Long story short...I've had this unit for about 3-4 years now and have had issues with it since the first few months. I'm too invested in it and it took too long to install to switch to something else, so I've kept it and dealt with it. I actually just bought this unit again just to use for spare parts that I know will break in the future. Mostly it's the insides of the faucet part (The brass air-gap piece that takes excess water during production to the drain line)...that thing will leak when broken, when it's going to break, even leaks when its brand new and fully working..it's terrible. I contacted GE just to purchase the brass part with the "air gap" but they don't sell just that brass part. They wanted me to buy the whole faucet for $75 or just the bottom part for $40. I got a better idea, I ordered a different brand "Reverse Osmosis Faucet with Air Gap" from Avanti, model number RF888A-CP. I've yet to install it but anything has got to be better than the lousy faucet that GE provided with their unit. I'm giving this entire unit 2 stars because it has provided clean water for my household for the past 3-4 years...even with the frustration of the leaking air-gap brass piece again and again and again....and again. I had to empty a bucket under my sink daily because so much excess water was dripping down the side of the hose. I even went as far as taking the faucet apart and taking out the brass air-gap piece and put epoxy all over it to make sure the brass stayed intact over the next few years and didn't break or corrode...but nope, it worked as a magnet and the little stream of water that falls through the air gap was now going anywhere else except down the drain line. If this new Avanti faucet that I purchased works with this unit as I've read, I'm gonna be very happy...no thanks to GE. I would like to say that this GE GXRM10RBL system was very well priced and that's why I went for it. Filters for it area easily available in stores or on Amazon. My record for changing the filters with no issues is 1-hour and 45 minutes..so prepare yourself for that. They recommend changing the 2 water filters every 6 months but that's overkill, you can do it in 9 months to a year. No where does it say when to replace the RO filter. I'm guessing I'm overdue for that. After dealing with this unit for 3-4 years, I feel like I deserve a degree in plumbing and RO system installation. Good luck and if you do buy this unit..save yourself the headache and buy a different faucet to work with this unit. Just make sure the new unit has a built in air gap like the Avanti RF888A-CP does. Good luck and here's to drinking clean water!

Impressive Improvement in Water Quality
On testing water quality before and after installation the results went from undrinkable levels of arsenic and uranium to next to nothing (less than .5 micrograms per litre). The system worked! The installation was a bit tricky. The instructions were a bit confusing and the gaskets had a way of shifting out of alignment and causing leakage. But on the whole I was pleased with the results and considered it good value for the money.

Differs from the GE system purchased 8 years ago
This is my third GE water filtration system, same model, have been using them since 1999. The system came covered with thick sticky grey dust everywhere, which required a thorough wash inside out. The color of the plastic is grey-ish, my previous systems (made in USA) had a much clearer white plastic housings. The hoses are harder that before and a challenge to install, particularly the ones that connect to the faucet. The faucet leaked right from the start. Contacted GE and they declined to send me a replacement, since based on the model number, the system was made in December 2018 and January 2020 is not covered under warranty. No matter that I bought the system new in mid January 2020. Amazon on the other hand understood the situation and helped me to acquire a new faucet - thank you !
