Haven't seen these since I was a kid growing up!
My mother had one of these mounted in our kitchen when I was growing up. It outlasted the other hand cranks that were either inferior or lost, and not one of those electric can openers out lasted it all those years. Why I don't know, but we left it mounted in that house when we moved into our newly built home and the folks that rented it, and then finally bought that house 20 years later, said it was still there and working fine, outlasting all the others. 30 years and still going strong! Now as far as longevity goes with this can opener, that is yet to be seen. But the convenience factor can't be beat, and they're so easy to use a 6 year old can figure it out. It folds back out of the way and offers 3 positions regarding where and how you mount it. If these last 20+ years, it'll be the best investment of the century! ...considering how cheaply things are designed and engineered today. Perfect for your cabin out in the middle of nowhere as well! You'll never lose or be frustrated looking for a can opener again because it's right there where you mounted it years ago, as always.

Grew up in a house with one of these
My folks had a can opener like this and it was so sturdy and worked so well that when our electric opener stopped performing, I decided to switch to this. I was pleased when it arrived to see that it appears to be well-made and should prove to be as strong and reliable as the one my parents had. I would have given it five stars except for one thing - the tiny screws that were included for mounting were ridiculously small and inadequate for the job. We purchased larger screws to ensure when we install it it's going to be secure. What they sent vs an appropriate size are shown in the photo, next to a dime.

These are great and far better than hand can opener
First one lasted 12 years and to be fair, I could have salvaged it but it was started to corrode around the cutting wheel so decided to opt for a new one! Easy to use and cantilevers out the way when you don't need it!!

Great for people who struggle with hand held openers. Swings out of the way. Like the one I grew up using in the 60s and 70s!

Very poor indeed: wouldn't open anything after a few months use.
I like the idea of a wall mounted opener. Our house had one in the 90s that had obviously been there for decades and still worked perfectly. Until my wife banged her head on it and was so annoyed she threw it in the bin. Actually, she banged her head several times, and each time I would retrieve it from the bin because I liked it, but eventually I tired and let it go. I still like the idea (I didn't bang my head on it at all) and the opener worked well for a couple of weeks, especially on flat pie-tins. After a couple of weeks it wasn't working so well on certain tins and after a few months stopped working on any tin, regardless of its shape. It looks like the blade might be adjustable but I couldn't see any way that it was so I threw it in the bin myself, this time. Very, very poor.
