Note this is a Normally Closed switch!!!

I bought this to replace the starter switch on a Toro push mower. While this physically matches the old switch perfectly, and even has the exact INDAK brand markings in all the same places, the switch is normally closed (NC), which means when the key is out and what seems like it should be "off", is actually making contact and trying to start the mower. I say "off" because the key removed in one position only, which would usually be the off position; in the on position, the key is not removable. Also, this isn't a momentary contact switch - it is an either on, off, but no spring return. This actually works in my favor; I can leave it "on" when not using it, and turn it "off" to start. The key just stays in it all the time. Since I don't have to worry about the safety implications of that here, I am going to keep this keyswitch and continue to use it this way. But if you're in a household with kids or other people where this may be a safety concern, please double-check that this is the correct key switch for your application.

Functional off/on switch

I've been doing mechanical repairs (professionally for close to 40 years) on small equipment (and cars, mlt/med/hvy trucks & diesel equipment) and frequently encounter broken, missing or non-functional parts. This particular switch was needed for a small snowblower. While not the identical replacement switch, it physically fit well in place of the original defective switch and functions as well or better than the original as this one isn't made up of plastic trash. My customer is thrilled he has his snowblower back operational, and I'm thrilled I was able to buy a switch that seems to be of high quality that functions as designed.

PERFECT REPLACEMENT

It took less than 5 minutes to replace this switch. Turned key & snowblower started right up. No issues.

Works but not momentary

I bought this as a replacement for a Lawn Boy mower starter switch. It fits perfectly but it's simply an on off switch and my mower requires a momentary switch. My fault for not doing more research.

Stens 430-029 ignition key

This switch should be an exchange for the ignition switch on a Gravely 5645 (magneto ignition, manual start). This is wrong as the switch has a spring loaded return (open contact). The Gravely switch should be a bi stable switch, this is mono-stable, i.e. rather useless for a Gravely walk behind tractor and also a safety issue as in the returned stat, anyone can start the tractor with or without key Reading other reviews for this product, it seems that the "same switch" was delivered as bi stable switch with no spring loaded return. I wonder why. It seems that the control on what is actually sold is not the best.

No keys included

I bought this ignition switch for my snow blower and received the switch but no keys. In the picture it shows 2 keys. Now I have to purchase keys separately as I don't have any keys

I was very surprised that it worked on my Toro walking lawnmower

I took a chance to buy this for my Toro Walking lawnmower and it worked. I was nervous at first because it did not suggest that it would work for my particular lawnmower but now I can turn the key to start my lawnmower. Yea!!
