It’s only cold weather.
I grew up in the great north woods of the Midwest since then I’ve moved to the west coast…where it now also gets really cold. I love wearing wool I thinks it’s an amazing technical fabric. I also love wearing silk. These did a great job of keeping me warm but not sweltering.

Lightweight and warm
Bought these for a trip to Canada and they were perfect. Not bulky Wore under leggings) and were warm in the windy, wet 37 degree F weather walking around the city.

A good winter product
They are light and warm and very good to wear. Your pants slide on and do not stick to pants

Good value for the money
I only tried these on and have not had a chance to use them yet, but they worked well under the pants I plan to wear on a Spring adventure trip.

These silk pants are exactly what I was looking for.
Only compliments; no complaints.

GREAT!
I bought these because I probably wear what people think is my uniform. I don't dress all that differently from one season to another, except short sleeves/long sleeeves and sweaters. I bought these to fit under my sheer black pants for insulation. I wear the same draw string black pants - I have many pairs, for all seasons. I find these "Thermasilk pants" very comfortable. They're light enough to breathe and I don't feel like I'm wearing anything heavy or restrictive beneath my main black pants. They give enough protection from the cold and coverage to be warm and comfortable inside or out. Because they are light weight, if you don't want to buy more than one, they are easily hand washed, wrung dry and dry overnight. Give them eight hours to hang dry. I've bought two pairs so far and I highly recommend them.

Any thinner and and you could strain soup through them
Let me be upfront with this first opinion: "Base layer" silk underwear is a crock. It's also a rip-off, IMO. $50-60 for something that I'm honestly afraid to wash because I'd expect them to dissolve in the water. But since I can't buy any others this time of year, apparently, I went ahead and gave in. I use silk long-johns to sleep in. My Reynaud's has crept up over the years and now involves my lower legs as well as my feet. Even using an electric blanket year-round (with my AC set no higher than 70 because my face is always hot ... an uncommon but annoying and uncomfortable flip side to Reynaud's, I've learned), my feet and legs are usually cold in bed. These did help keep my lower body warmer, but how long they will hold up? How long before a seam tears out, because the fabric is so thin and delicate? I really miss what I used to be able to buy: heavy silk long-johns, not polyester, not fleece, not cotton on the inside. Just well-made, heavy silk LJ, that don't cost a fortune. Used to at least be able to buy at a good discount after winter, but don't even find those deals at 3D stores or their online sites. And most that look/sound heavier, almost always come as a set with a long-sleeved top ... which I don't need and don't want to pay for. One final note: I recently also purchased a pair of Lands End LJ, sold here on Amazon. I ordered according to the table of measurements. They are about 2 sizes too big. When I wanted to exchange, none will be available for almost a YEAR!!! Can't return, can't exchange. Couldn't buy directly from the company either. Because of the size disparity, I ordered these the size I learned I needed in the other LJ (Lands End). They fit just about right, though they are a little long in the crotch and the waist is just a tiny bit tight. I am about 5'7", 185 pounds these days, and a bit short-waisted. I wear a 16 or 18 jeans or slacks, the 16 if there is any stretch in the fabric. I'm glad I've now got one pair for bed again but I won't buy another unless on sale. I'm used to paying a premium for almost everything sold by Amazon. I consider it like going to a convenience store (7-11, for example) for milk or feminine hygiene products needed in a pinch; you pay for that convenience. But the price for any and all of these so-called "base layer" silk long-johns really does seem exhorbitant.
