Filter media
This product works great as designed and as I have a heavily planted tank, it does not clog or need cleaning for quite some time.

This sponge filter is so coarse, that it does not block or stop anything from going through it.
I like that it was precut, but the product was to coarse and did not stop any debris. I changed the sponge filter to something better and will not be using this sponge filter in the future.

Perfectfit
Very good product. Many people say they wish the pores are finer. I put 2 pieces in my filter with a layer of ceramic media in between. It’s beyond perfect

Fits perfectly in the tidal filter makes the water clear. Easy to clean as well.

Like these but wish they were a finer sponge to catch more debris
So glad Seachem makes these to fit perfectly into their filter. They work well but I do wish they were a finer textured sponge. They are however better than the sponge that comes with the filter. These would make a good sponge for bottom layer. I really feel what’s needed is a finer textured sponge to catch more debris for middle layer. Then top with a polishing pad. That would be a perfect combination.

Quality replacement part
I bought extra sponges for my Tidal to throw in my quarantine tank that's not always running to provide that instant beneficial bacteria for a cycled tank. I pull the old sponge that's full of bacteria toss it in a new tank, replace it with a unused sponge and bam instant cycled tank, works great.

Discolouration,oily residue,strong perfume smell
I always order extras of these filters and run three sponges plus filter floss and media stones. They work great,and rinse easily. The last order has yellow discolouration,an oily residue and smelled strongly of perfume. Hoping the next ones that come are clean. Great product.
