Perfect for the application - mounting solar panels
Great product and great service, brought these mounts to install a solar panel on the rails on my boat, works great.

What are those two weird little washers for?
I am mounting solar panels on my sailboat pushpit. The clamps are excellent IMO. There is one key bit that you should be aware of and may not be obvious to some users. The clamps ship with some hardware: screws, lock washers, butterfly clamping screws and two weird looking grey washers which have little langs on the inside radius.... do not toss these out!! These washers are retaining washers for the butterfly clamping screws and need to be installed on the inside of the clamp to ensure you do not accidentally drop the butterfly screw when loosening the clamp. As a sailor I can tell you, no matter where you drop stuff on deck it will absolutely, no question, always wind up overboard, so these little retaining washers are critical. The other minor surprise is the nylock nuts in the mount will push out, they are secure from rotation but they can push out as you attach the mount to a mounting plate. This will make you think you have a stipped nut or that there is something odd going on when you try to tighten the mounting screws. The nylock wonl;t engage with the screw if it has been pushed out. Just bear thi in mind when you assemble these. It would have been better if the nylocks were secure from push out as well as rotation IMO. Otherwise I think these are an excellent solution for mounting smaller (mine are 100 W) arrays. I might be a bit concerned if you went to considerably larger/heavier arrays though.

holding up well after 1 year in saltwater environment
Replaced the ones on my ten year old solar panel. - Takes a lot of strain from wind, etc. These are holding up well after 1 year in saltwater environment

Sturdy but could...
be tricky to install. These look to be very well made. The plastic is dense and solid...the rubber adapters for fitting different rail sizes look to be of good quality. the tricky part with these is how to attach an object to the top portion of bracket. there are 3 mounting holes, and the spacing could make it difficult to mount on some objects easily and "cleanly..." you can certainly drill thru the top of the object you're mounting, but if it's a solar panel your options are a bit limiting. most panels wave narrow frames and you'll need to fabricate a mounting surface. if the bracket had a different hole mounting configuration it would be easier.

Wonderful solution...
These worked great to use as a base to attach an outrigger to wife's kayak. But after all the installation work, making outriggers etc. wife decided she didn't like them and preferred to paddle without em. Oh well.

Worked well for me
I attached three of these to a hard life sling box that mounts to the sailboat stern pulpit and am very happy with it. This box needs to come off every fall and go back on in spring, and these devices streamline a previously 1.5 hr process of using screws and nuts to something closer to 10 minutes. Result is quite secure. Comes with rubber spacers to accommodate 7/8”, 1” and 1-1/8 rails. They are a little overbuilt and solid. Great!

Used these to clamp a backrest to railing on our sailboat.

Not What They Claim To Be
These don't fit 1" pipe without the "shims". Sea Dog used to make clamps that fit specific pipe dia. - These are not them. Without shims these only fit 1 1/4" pipe.
