The holes are too big

I like the design of this infuser. It’s a nice size. I like the silicone thing to set it in when you take it out of the cup. It works perfectly in my simple modern coffee cups. HOWEVER. The. Holes. Are. Too. Big. I absolutely hate tea sludge and I get it every time with this infuser. Smaller ingredients go right through the holes into my tea. Sad!

Attractive infuser; could be improved with a finer mesh

This is an attractive tea infuser with a great design. I have several tea infusers, and overall I find this style to be the easiest to fill, use, and clean, particularly compared to the ball-style infusers. I love that the lid doubles as a holder for the infuser when I bring tea back to my desk and need have finished steeping my tea after a few minutes – I can just put the infuser into the lid and finish my tea without over-steeping. The packaging was attractive, simple, and used a minimum of plastic. The company appears to be environmentally responsible – bravo! Overall, the tea infuses perfectly fine in this, and the stainless steel of course doesn't impart any flavor. *All* stainless mesh tea infusers will let some number of particles through into your tea, and this one is no exception – that is to be expected. However, I do feel like the mesh on this I've previously owned an Oxo-branded tea infuser with a similar design. Relative to this one, the Oxo infuser costs >50% more, but comes with slightly better build quality and a crucially, a slightly finer mesh that kept more particles out of your tea. If that's important to you, you might want to spend more for the Oxo. Otherwise, this Simple Modern infuser is a great value option. I found that the number of tea particles escaping can be greatly minimized by simply filling the infuser and shaking it dry over your sink before adding hot water, and not pouring hot water into the center of the infuser (which causes too much turbulence).

Good general design, less fine mesh

I like these style of infusers. They do not require putting leaves into a container and then dunking it in the cup. So there are no accidental spills of leaves into the cup when the lid was not put on properly. These just require placing the filter on the rim of the cup and then pour leaves in. The hot water can be poured right onto the leaves without the filter in the way. It comes with a lid, but I usually don’t use it. This style is easier to clean as well. This model has grips which keep the filter in-place better and makes it more comfortable if the metal gets hot. Comparing this filter to another of a similar design: this one is thinner which has little impact. The mesh on my other filter is more fine with tinier holes. If using high-quality tea, this is less important. However, if using tea with more crumbs, this filter lets a lot more leaves through. I used my “worst” loose leaf tea in this filter that normally results in some residue in the bottom of my cup with my old filter. There was a thick sludge as pictured when using this filter. Smaller holes would have made this a better filter.

Great strainer, mesh could be just a little finer.

Love this style of strainer. Makes loose leaf tea a breeze. Fits in all my mugs, the fins keep it from falling in in larger ones and it’s a good size for the smaller ones too - doesn’t hit the bottom in even my smallest mugs. The lid is a nice touch and doubles as a drip tray. Good quality stainless construction. Only minor issue - the mesh could be a bit finer as with some teas there are fines that get through into your brew. Not really a big deal as this happens with most strainers and teas no matter how fine the mesh. Could also use for single cups of coffee. Big improvement over tea balls and spoons. Easy to clean. Would definitely recommend.

Nice tea diffuser. Fits in many containers. Well made

I drink loose leaf tea daily and I have multiple types of diffusers (silicone animal shapes and metal ones like this). This one is narrow compared to my other metal ones, but deeper, which I like. The leaves don’t float up and over the edge of the diffuser, the narrow shape fits in more receptacles (like water bottles, etc.) but the tabs also tell you put it in larger cups. It has a lid, which seems unnecessary, but works fine. I like this diffuser. It works well.

Works perfectly

I drink mostly loose leaf tea and have used a variety of steepers. This one is one of my favorites. It's beautifully designed, easy to use, and easy enough to clean. One of my favorite things about it is the size. Most of my other steepers are quite small and they don't work well for my larger teacups. This one is larger and holds the perfect amount of tea leaves for our more modern teacup sizes.
