Works!

I was able to pull the old ones out, and install these with a screwdriver, a pair of needle nose locking pliers, and a pair of regular locking pliers. Probably would have been easier with the right tools. Tensioning with the right number of twists and getting the right counter balance is just trial and error really. Takes a while to get the hang of it, but in the end I could replace one with about 15 minutes now.

Worked Great!

Product went in great, but buying the tool to wind the spring made it easier. There is a learning curb and some monkey work if you never done this before, but very doable. I watched some videos on Youtube and was able to do it without anything breaking. Make sure to measure your current ones (the housing only) and not the springs extended. Saved money and the hassle of getting someone else to do it. Would recommend!

Fit the vinyl replacement window perfectly.

Wasn’t sure if this is what my aunt needed to to fix her windows that wouldn’t stay up. It was. Easy enough to install. Bought 2 more for her other window that won’t stay up.

Poorly Made and Fell Apart

I bought 4 of these Spiral Tilt Balance window replacement springs. The installation is not too difficult, but the balancers fell apart upon installing. When installing, be careful to check the length of the unit travel, or when you lower the repaired window sash the balancer will come apart. Once the balancer comes apart, it is difficult or impossible to put it back together. Price was okay, delivery was as promised, but quality was poor.

A bit tricky

I had never seen a support like these. The first one took almost 2 hours but by the time I finished the 3rd one, it only took about 15 minutes. Helps to have an extra set of hands. I was surprised at how many different ones they make so pay attention to the length, diameter, and the color at the end. Lastly, yes, there is an orange and a red, so purchase wisely. But once installed, they work!

Much less expensive than a new window!

These worked perfectly to replace the rusted and failed spiral tilt balances on a cheap, no-name contractor grade window. Even with a tilt balance tool it was very tricky to get them tensioned and locked into place. I ended up using a strong needle-nosed pliers and would not waste money on the specialty tool. Once in place the window was better than new. Pay close attention to the tube diameter and length of the old balance.

Product was abent

I ordered two and both had a bend in the item. The shipping box was not damaged, so I can only assume that the items were bent when they were put in the box. I didn't want to go through the hassle and re-ordering so I carefully tried to straighten them. There is still a very slight bend, but they seem to work. I am hopeful that the bending does not affect the longevity.
