Not NIST traceable

NIST traceable certificate - not! Works fine otherwise. I've used the same trusty old BK Precision 2703B for over a decade and it's been completely reliable. I needed specifically a meter with a NIST traceable calibration certificate for work. I looked at a bunch of Fluke meters which are way more expensive, and then decided to give BK a try again. Measurements and build quality of this meter are all solid as far as I can tell from a quick test. The only problem is - there is no NIST certificate! What there is, is a dinky little "Certificate of Conformance" which doesn't indicate absolutely anything about what tests were done, when, by whom, what the results were, or how they're traceable to anything at all. Real NIST certificates would list the reference number, be produced by an A2LA lab, and follow ANSI Z540 or ISO17025 standards. None of that is there. I can't tell if this is what the "... with NIST Certificate" version is supposed to come with, or if I was just sent the wrong version. I'll have to return this and keep shopping. 1 star since this was the only reason I bought the meter. I think I would give the regular (non-NIST) version 5 stars, if I was just looking for a nice meter.

does the work of the earlier versions without much change or need to learn it over again. A good example of digital making things better, but not harder to use or lower quality. I would give more stars, but the shipment took a long time to come and the information was very partial at best.

Died on me

Died after a couple of months of use. No fuses blown, just erratic readings then sudden death. It was after Amazon's 1 month warranty, so I was out of luck. They connected me with the company, and I saw that their repair rates were higher than what I paid for the thing. Build-wise and performance-wise I guess it was okay, but I really didn't like the weak plastic fold out back piece.

Manual ranging, old-school meter with a solid feel.

Solid, well built, handsome, and so far as I can tell, accurate. The beep alert when you move the red lead to the current-measuring socket is a nice feature--maybe I won't blow so many fuses now. Capacitor measurement up to 40uF. Frequency measurement in KHz. I've used BK products for many years and have always been satisfied with them.

Professional quality

I'm a service engineer, this replaced my old Test Bench unit that I had for 20 years that was thrown around in my travel toolbox for about 1000 air flights and it still worked, now retired as my garage voltmeter. I hope to get the same durability and rock solid performance of of this iteration. So far, so good, so easy to use and the cables are substantial. Could not ask for more.

I am very happy with this meter so far. I needed a good manual ranging multimeter and settle on this one after hearing good feedback from a colleague. I have no regret so far The quality is great, the accuracy is as expected, and the leads are very comfortable and substantial.

high quality DMM for everybody

BK Precision makes high quality gear. This DMM has a great feel, it's hefty without being too heavy. The leads are of especially good quality, and they untangle easily which is a huge plus.
