I’ve been pretty happy with Belkin bags that I’ve had in the past, so I thought I’d try this 14-15” laptop bag from Belkin for my new, slim Dell XPS 13” laptop. And although the bag is a little bit large (which is my fault, not the bag’s), I’m mostly happy with it. I tend to carry a lot of stuff around with my laptop, so I actually appreciate the extra space. I’m able to fit my computer accessories (Bluetooth mouse, charger, USB-C converters, etc.) in the outside pocket, as well as a mechanical pencil, eraser, card holder and writing pad. The body of the bag itself is well made and sturdy, although the strap feels a little bit thin for carrying a laptop around by. In addition, the strap is pretty short, even when extended to its full length. It was long enough for me to sling the bag over my shoulder, but not cross-body. OTOH my husband, who is a pretty big guy, could not even carry it over his shoulder. And the strap is not detachable, so you can’t replace it with a longer one. Also, the outside accessory pocket isn’t protected by any padding, so if you want to carry something breakable in there (hello, Bluetooth mouse), just be aware that it won’t really be protected. On the good side, this bag is actually slim enough that if I really wanted to (like for meeting airline personal-item carry-on limitations, assuming I ever fly somewhere again in the future), I could slip it in my backpack’s largest pocket without totally filling that pocket up. It’s also worth noting one slightly odd thing, which is that it’s a vertical bag, not the more standard horizontal (i.e. briefcase-style) bag. Horizontal vs. vertical is really a matter of personal preference, though, and not something that is intrinsically good or bad. All-in-all, I like this bag and it works for me. But I’m taking one star off for the strap issue, which could be a pretty big deal for larger folks, and also for the fact that the outside pocket isn’t padded, which may limit what you want to carry in there. So four-stars for this one…
