Great little files, perfect shape for cutting screws

I had a unique application and these files worked perfectly. In the situation I had, a screw bound inside a PEM nut and the PEM nut came loose from the sheet metal, no way to hold it while drilling or otherwise so a screw extractor was not possible. The knife edge on this file was able to get in between the screw head and the surface of the sheet metal, then turning the screw with the driver (power driver) was able to cut the screw head off as though moving the file at high speed (but not so high as to burn the file) and apply light pressure with the file. Used a drop of oil to hold file sharpness.

Great deal but not a genuine product

Well if you need files at a great price these are the ones however, the Mercer product # file that I purchased somewhere else looks identical with two exceptions....1st the ring or pitch of the steel comparing the two shows the metal was never hardened properly and rings like a hollow thump at a full pitch below the genuine product 2ndly ( not a real issue) the logo and type are a hair wider showing bleeding which is normal when logos are reproduced or copied and not made from the original art work. Overall a great deal but may wear faster than genuine product.

Bought two boxes of the Mercer Three square BTHS10 file. I was under the impression that these were made in the USA. I got 1 box of 12 branded "MERCER" which is made in India and 1 box of 12 unbranded box and stamped on file made in China. I'm very disappointed in this purchase..
