Didn’t Last: An Outward Hound Naturals Dog Jute Puzzle Rope Toy Review

Outward Hound Naturals dog jute puzzle rope toy, made in China from eco-friendly sustainable materials, is a tug of war type rope toy with 5 rings. This bonding toy can be used to play with your pup as well as be a puzzle by removing the rings. My 3-year-old mini schnauzer is hard on toys, and this one is no exception. This toy had the usual short introduction period and was then quickly destroyed. At first, the rope was chewed to the point of fraying. Then he figured out how to get the rings off, by untying the knots and unraveling the rope. Being rope I was able to tie off the ends and cut off the excess damaged part, so we can still use it for supervised play. The Outward Hound Naturals dog jute puzzle rope toy may be a good option for the right dog. However, I would not purchase this toy for my pupper. Beware if your dog swallows the rope

My puppy loved this toy, but unbeknownst to me, he was actually swallowing pieces of the rope which eventually resulted in an expensive vet visit. So I would only recommend this toy if your dog doesn’t actually chew the rope off.

Dogs love it! They removed the knots in the rope real quick but haven’t destroyed the rest yet (2 weeks in...still functioning!)

Not worth it

This toy literally fell apart before my dog could even get to it. Small wirey pieces all over the place. Waste of money

Too fibrous

I'm not giving this to my dog because of the appearance of so many fibers on this thing. I just know my dog will swallow them and that can't be good for her. She's got a sensitive tummy to begin with. L*rd knows how it would fare if knots start forming inside.

My Guy Wasn't Interested

This is a very substantial dog toy--heavy and well made. It's probably best suited to dogs who are chewers. It has removable rubber rings for a "problem solving" activity. Unfortunately, my big guy is neither a chewer or a problem solver, because he had very little interest in this. He never looked at it again after I gave it to him the first time. So, not a hit here but could be for other dogs. It's a quality product.

Not durable for large dogs

I usually really like the products from outward hound. This toy however, is definitely not meant for large dogs, strong tuggers or chewers. Still searching for strong, durable and engaging pull toys for a very large pup - this was not the one.
