Perfect little grease gun

Hard to load but works fine

I load synthetic grease onto it and it’s a very messy process. The device works very well in what it is designed for - pushing grease into the nose sprocket of a chainsaw bar. I like the small size making it easy to carry in a chainsaw case.

Ever used one of those chain saw grease guns that you push and push and nothing comes out? Me too, very frustrating, so I bought this and couldn't be happier. It works when you want it to and works well.

Works Great

This little Grease Gun works perfectly. Easy to load cartridges, and easy to use. The Instructions on the backside of the package, however, are downright confusing if you intend on using Cartridges. Apparently much was lost being translated from German to English. Hint: If you're using Grease Cartridges, you won't need the Inner Plastic Plunger W/Chain; so leave it out. Use that part only if you intend on filling it full of raw non-cartridged Grease. The Cartridges make it soooooooo simple and soooooo easy. Using the Oregon Cartridge Refills is by far the best approach. 1: Remove the Outer Lower-Cap from the Grease Gun Body. 2: Remove the Inner Plastic Plunger from the Grease Gun, and store it somewhere. 3: Unpack one of the Oregon Grease Cartridges, and remove the protective End-Cap from the Cartridge. 4: Scoot the Cartridge up-Inside the Gun Body, with the 'Open End of the cartridge' Toward the Inside of the Gun. 5: After Cartridge is All The Way Inside, use your Thumb to 'Push' the Lower Plastic Cap at the Bottom of the Cartridge, until it "Bottoms Out". (There's lots of Air in the Gun Body, so you have to 'Bleed it Out'). 5: After you've completed the above, Test the unit to confirm it's Ready. If not, Air or Obstructions could be the cause. 6: Lastly, place the Outer Lower-Cap back onto the bottom of the Grease Gun and go to work.

A must have

Every time I sharpen my chainsaw I grease the bar. The most often forgotten part any chainsaw that uses Oregon Bars is the grease is the sprocket on the tip. A must grease and grease gun for all chainsaw bars to protect expensive parts.

Handy tool to have!

I bought this for chainsaw bars, but it turns out the thing works good for other things as well. You can actually use it on a regular zerk even. So far it seems to be sturdy enough to put up with living in the "chainsaw stuff crate".

Good Grease

Use this th grease your bar sprocket and the clutch bearing if your saw's crank is drilled to accept grease. This is easy to use with gloves, and will accept bulk grease or cartridges. I started with the cartrige that came with it, but now I just fill it from the end with a grease gun. The gun draws well, and I haven't had any trouble with it at all. I did spray paint mine safety yellow before I got it all greasy, and It's held the paint well. Update: I came across this review again, and it's been four years since I wrote it. This little grease gun is still in my saw box, which must mean that the yellow paint was worth it. It's also still working like new.
