Fit perfectly
There are some differences between the JD models and tank depths. This fit my father-in-law's 317 perfectly, and the gauge actually works.

Is There Gas?
This unit fits very nicely as a replacement in my old Bolens garden tractor fuel tank. The old one was unreadable due to clouding of the lens. This one fits perfectly but seems a little off on the reading of how much fuel is really in the tank. Reads a little below 1/2, and when I measure it, it is a little above 1/2. Better to be safe than sorry.

Got this as a replacement for my Craftsman lawn tractor. Fits well and seems to be fairly accurate, but then I don't worry about being stranded out on the road because of it. The price was right and it does what it's supposed to do so I'm happy.

Did not fit my Dayton generator, but hay free returns you can’t go wrong!!!
I took a shot in the dark and bought this for my Dayton 4000 watt generator with a 4 gallon tank and it was to long. I returned it to amazon with no issues. This product looked to be of good quality.

Good cap, does the job
Good cap, does the job. Fuel level not accurate as I would have needed one with a longer float assembly for my tractor, but at over double the price for legit JD one, it's not worth it. I'll take cheap and good enough. Not like I'm going to be miles from home with it or something, I can always walk back to fuel. Would be accurate if this was the proper replacement for your tractor.

Replaced an inadequate one on a generator
I got this a couple of years back and it replaces a version on a Troybilt 8 kW portable generator. The original did not reach far enough down into the tank to give readings when the gas level went below about 3 gallons - in a 7-gallon tank. (An idiot must have chosen that gauge for use with the generator.) I did have to slightly modify the new version to get the bulb to reach right down to the tank bottom, and now it gives a reading down to about 1.5 gallons. (Below that I use a wooden dipstick, with gallon-level markings that I built.) There is no way a bulb gauge could work any better than this, due to the flotation requirement. Howard Ferstler
