I was looking for a sturdy eyewear retainer made of clear plastic
I was looking for a sturdy eyewear retainer made of clear plastic, which makes them less obvious and I think mitigates the "old geezer" look. I got tired of losing and looking for my readers, so the product has worked out well. At 12 or 13 bucks it's pretty expensive for a little length of skinny plastic tubing and a couple of plastic loops. I kind of laughed and thought, "Shouldn't I get at last a half dozen for that kind of money." All told, though, the product achieved the desired effect, and I'm happy with it.

eyeglass retainer
Well, other than receiving a different product than ordered, I have to say the product does work rather well. I ordered a colored version and recieved a clear string - but at least it's length is excellent and it completely stays on my glasses, even when I accidently hit my glasses with my hand - they stay connected. This works well with eyeglasses that have a small side bar and a larger part over the ear as that provides a way to prevent the connected part from sliding back off the glasses. My wife tried on her glasses with no metal sidebar and if she hit the glasses on anything, the connection would slide down the sidebar and come off. If you have the right type of glasses, this works great. If not, you need to be more careful but still the length is great so just be careful and you get a solid product.

One pair is a 5, the other is a 1... Average is 3.
I bought two of the clear, uncolored cords a few months apart. One became stiff and non-plyable, the other is excellent, soft, and flexible. Poor quality control, it would seem. I like the clear because it's a bit less obvious when my glasses are on and when they are hanging. UPDATE About to buy my sixth pair of these. For the first several months they're excellent, then the plastic gradually becomes stiffer and stiffer until they are so rigid that their annoyance exceeds their benefit. Then I suck it up and buy another one. I've never had one break. Please stay put pretty well until the plastic starts to stiffen. for as much as these cost, I don't understand why they can't use a better grade of plastic that retains its flexibility.

exactly what I needed to keep my glasses
After I lost a pair of prescription sunglasses, I went online to figure out what I could do to prevent it. This cord is a simple, inexpensive and effective solution. It snugly fits on the ear pieces and is comfortably long enough to fit over my head and around my neck without becoming annoying. It does not add any weight to the glasses and does not bother my ears. I bought it in black to match my new sunglasses and you don't even notice it's there. Now I don't worry about losing my glasses. I used to tuck them into my shirt or put them on top of my head, but every time I went to pick up my daughter they would inevitably drop to the ground. Now they just hang around my neck when I don't need them and my daughter can't easily pull them off.

Bottom line: it's good, does a good job, and doesn't scream for attention because of it's simplistic appearance
It does it's job. I did order a CLEAR BLUE, A CLEAR one arrived. I do use it on my reading glasses, not sun glasses. Two things would make it perfect: 1. If it was a bit longer 2. If it didn't get that little loop where I put my glasses on my nose and then put the clear cord over my head. To avoid the loop, put the cord over your head first, before putting your glasses on. Bottom line: it's good, does a good job, and doesn't scream for attention because of it's simplistic appearance.

Broke after 11 months
Very nice retainer for my glasses. Just the right length (I like it a bit longer) at around 50 cm (20 inches or so). The loops fit right over my earpiece, and I can adjust its location quite easily, so that it doesn't bother my ears. The cord is pretty tough, although I haven't tried to stretch it out or anything. They can stretch a bit to get them over your head. Overall, a nice retainer, especially for the outdoors. They're probably not very fashionable for some people, but they are really practical. ==Revised review on 1 July 2016 == I purchased these about 11 months ago to use with my eyeglasses, which I only need occasionally, but I like them around my neck. The retainers is made of plastic, which I thought was pretty tough when I first bought it. But after a few months, the retainers became very stiff, and really hard to use. This is a problem with cheap plastic, a substance called a "plasticizer" essentially evaporates over time, and the plastic becomes very stiff and brittle. This morning, the loop that goes around one of the arms of my glasses just broke. And as I rubbed it in my fingers, it just simply crumbled. This is a piece of junk. Don't waste your money on it, pay a little more for something that might last longer than a few months.

Good mostly
I like these better than chains because they don't snag hair as much. I didn't like the "flashing" line (ridge of plastic along the length from the molding process) which irritated my skin after a while. I had to use a razor blade to try to smooth it out. I wish they could have made it smooth at the factory somehow. I have two of these and one did stiffen up, perhaps due to sunscreen or insect repellent, but it didn't break.

I was looking for a cord that would keep my reading glasses securely around my neck so I didn't have to search through my purse when I am going somewhere and need them. These are very strong and grip the arms firmly. My only con is that they do look like they are better suited for younger adults and kids.

These eyewear retainers are perfect and they look pretty cool too
These eyewear retainers are perfect and they look pretty cool too, not like your grandmother's. Good price point so I bought a few of them, good value.
