BRASS! they will break if forced is used

These are okay for soft wood. Maybe okay for plastic. However, I had almost all of them break in plywood. The flathead slit is very fragile. If you don't need 6x32 move up to the 1/4x20 with Allan style screw in, zinc coated ones. If 6x32 is a must, then order more than you need and be very careful when screwing them in. I used one as a throw away thread starter to make the threads first. then put a new one in with a hex standoff. hex standoff was easy to pull back out. Screws tended to get stuck and break them when using for inserting into wood.

Crumbles as if made of clay

Extremely disappointed. The "Made in Italy" promises real quality. They certainly look exactly like the photos. But when I go to install them in the stripped plastic wall electric outlet box, the first one fell apart under the pressure of the screwdriver tip. Mind you, the receiving material is plastic, easily softer than wood which these are made for. I even drilled out the hole slightly for the larger diameter of the brass inserts. My worry was the plastic would fail, by either stripping right away, or cracking. So I was emotionally prepared to repair the plastic with epoxy. Never was I prepared for the BRASS(!) to simply break away at the notches. It broke under such mild screwdriver force I thought it was for sure a isolated bad sample. No. ALL 4 I tried failed in the same identical failure mode. By the 2nd and 3rd I was also using only the minimal force too. I ended up filling the hole with epoxy, drilled next day and refastened electric outlet, which holds like a champ. It's not even worth the time to return these "brass" liners.

They do the job if installed carefully.

I snapped off every one I tried to install with a standard (flat head) screwdriver. The best way to install them if you don't have the specialized tool is to screw in a screw, then screw the insert and screw together, then back the screw out. I didn't have problems when I did it that way.

Good product, problem and solution.

The slot feature in this product creates a weak point that allows it to snap off while threading in. Solution is : Thread a socket head cap screw (or similar screw) with the right thread pitch (in this case 6-32) into this insert and use this combination to thread them into the unit needing the insert, back the screw out and your done. I was threading mine into nylon, not tough material that's why it needed the inserts. Works great now.

They worked great for what i needed them, but the brass is very soft and will easily deform or break if not installed correctly.

Filet trop serré!

La dimension du filet intérieur était légèrement inférieur à ce qu'il faut. Je ne pouvais pas viser une bolt dedans tellement le filet était serré. J'ai due passer un taraud dans chacque inserts pour régler le problème. Tout le reste était bon, reçu dans les temps.
