Looks good but not sturdy

This train set was a disappointment. If I had not thrown away the box I would have returned it by now. Two major issues are 1) the couplings to join the trains together are cheap plastic pieces that don't connect well, constantly come lose, and easily break when the heavier plastic and metal cars begin moving around the track. This set has never made it around the hold track not once!! 2) to get the train engine to start moving, you have to turn the remote control on low until you hear the engine wheels turning and then give the engine a push with your hands! Be careful of the sparks!!! Such a disappointment especially to my 7 year old who loves trains and specifically asked for a CSX train that moves and smokes!! Can I return this without the orig packaging?!

We bought this train for our 6 year old boy for Christmas and he absolutely loved it! We think he is to young though but he is a train fanatic and he is taking a good care of this set.

Entry level, poor quality control

Worked great at first. After a couple of sessions, the locomotive stopped working correctly. Took it to the shop where I purchased it. On their track, it quickly started to smell like something in the locomotive was burning!! One of the switch tracks on the expansion set also stopped conducting electricity, so train dies if you try to reroute it. There’s probably better sets, but maybe not at this price? Shop owner gave me a new set. We’ll see how it goes.

DON'T DO IT!

I recently purchased a Walthers Trainline Flyer Express CSX starter set. The locomotive, a CSX GP15 came out of the box with a universal cup slipping on the worm shaft for the rear truck. I called Walthers for warranty service. They don't answer the phone and only take messages with the expectation of calling back in 5 days! They haven't. I wrote an email with their set expectation of a 2-3 day response. They didn't. HORRIBLE customer service, inexcusable in today's world. They don't value your business and haven't, in my case, produced a quality product.
