The best bug protection clothing!

OMG … the pants performed beyond my wildest imagination for bug protection in the thick of the Amazon jungle, as well as heavy mosquito areas on the mountains. It truly formed a shield where I could see huge bugs come up to and then fly/move away. I can very happily state that I did not have a single bug bite (without using any topical repellents) while seeing legs full of bug marks of fellow travelers who were using topical repellents that washed away with rain or sweat. They are also incredibly sturdy while being lightweight. They dry fairly quickly, however, it would be a huge help if they could be made waterproof. It would also help if there are more height adjustment buttons. Bravo and thank you team ExOfficio for making great clothing for expedition travelers!

Super lightweight but durable pants that kept the bugs away, even in Texas.

I accidentally ordered a size too large but for Texas summer heat and humidity, these trousers being loose and airy is not a bad thing. They are straight cut mens trousers so on my female body they are very straight in the hip and high waisted. This isn't a flattering fit but i never worry about getting a plumber's crack when my backpack shifts my shirt up or I bend down to tie my Altras. The fabric is super light weight with ventilating mesh panels running from above the knee to the ankle on the inside of the legs. The legs are long on me but having a 29" inseam, i expect no less. I use my hiking gaiters to blouse them and keep them from dragging. I'm truly impressed with the bug repellent feature. The trousers have no smell whatsoever straight out of the package and I'm a super smeller(extremely keen olfactory sense). These didn't develop any stink after sweating all day hiking in 80°F+ humid weather, in exposed sun. Even after leaving them sitting on top of my laundry for a week and hiking again, no stink. I have hiked thru hot, swampy, bug infested areas that left me full of bug bites despite repellent spray and BugsAway sunsleeves but the biting critters never got thru my pants! They didn't even try to bite me thru my trousers. I purchased these when they were super cheap but even full price I still think they are worth not having bug bites/reducing tick worry and very breezy leg protection from the sun.

The least breathable material I have ever encountered

There will be ZERO air getting through these pants. They are very thin but as breathable as a plastic bag.

Excellent tick pants for the summer

These are very comfortable and lightweight. I can’t speak to the fit, as I bought them knowing they would be too large.

Limited Availability

Too large for a person with a 34" waist (which was not available on Amazon.) I tried the 36" as some sizes run small with different brand pants. Ex Officio sizes run true but my size was not available. Hence 4 vs. 5 stars for lack of availability. Other Ex Officio pants I own are super and well made.

Works!!!! Used in are where mesh suite failed: Did not receive a single bite. Good fit, cool and really works.
