Great pants

Good product, wrong size.

Was sent the wrong size, order says Medium Short, all delivery items says Large. Happening more and more with Amazon, product ok but send you the wrong size. Quality of product is good, large still fits in waist ( feel like it runs small if I fit ok in large, waist is 32-33), bit long for me but still comfortable if you role them up at the waist, not bad for $80. No time to exchange so I’ll try em out.

Awesome pants

These work. They keep my legs dry on bike rides in the rain. That was the goal and it was achieved. Very happy with the result. Namaste

Best I Could Find but Missing Pockets are Disappointing

I bought these pants because I spend a lot of time at the local dog park. Invariably some dog jumps on me, so this time of year it's hard not to come away muddy. I'm 6'4" and 270 lbs, I wear cargo pants size 42-34, with a lot of stuff in my pockets, and the Berghaus 3XL-Long fit fine as overpants. These pants would be great if they only had some pockets. Yes, I can slip my hands under them to fetch my car keys, but it's kind of a pain. I've looked at Cabelas but they don't have anything any better for less than $250, so I had to pass.

Venting with zippers and snaps

I bought these specifically to open up on the upper leg and lower leg as needed to help vent during snowshoeing.. They worked as expected.. the snaps are a bit hard to snap with gloves on but that also means they are a bit hard to unsnap by accident too. The zipper is pretty lightweight I'm not sure if it will hold up to stresses of putting your legs in striding or reaching for the next step. All in all, I was able to vent, walk in snowshoes, access the zipper and the snaps with gloves on.

Bought these for photographic trips to New Zealand and Iceland, and also use them in the California Sierras. I am 6’2” and 180 pounds, 34 waist in Levi’s 541 jeans, short-waisted, and long legged. The Large/Long fit perfectly. Construction is excellent. Fully unzipped, the pants fit easily over Keene winter hiking boots. In Iceland, these protected against waterfalls, driving rain, snow, and 45+mph winds. The zips are not self sealing, but do have snap-down flaps along the full length of the zipper. These snaps unfasten easily when unzipping the pants to take them off, but stay snapped otherwise Wide enough to fit easily over boots, but not so much as to flap in the wind. Would buy again, but I cannot imagine needing to.

Great overpants for foul weather rides

Fantastic pants. Not form fitting in any way shape or form, but everything one could want otherwise in a waterproof/wind resistant pant. Have worn both for daily commuting rides as well as longer rides in poor weather. These pants never disappoint. Easy snaps and zippers (bi-directional) on legs, makes venting possible and East in and out of pants. Combine with a good set of gaiters and decent upper and there’s not much that can stop you.

Fit is not good for cycling or activewear

I use these for cycling in rain. The fit doesn't accommodate movement during exercise, namely in the knees. It keeps pulling the pants down off the waist when bending the knees. I bought the 3XL "Long" but the pant length is actually "Regular." Which is perfect for normal wear, except when cycling. On the bike, the pants legs are pulled up exposing the ankles and calves to cold wind and/or rain. The pants also are very stiff and because of this they actually snag on the crank. However I use a bike leg strap to fix both of those issues.

Top quality trousers, perfect for walking to work, or walking the dog.

These trousers are exactly what I was after. I have the black Rg1 jacket and while these trousers are ever so slightly shinier, they match. They are also quieter than expected when walking, you do not sound like a mobile crip packet. They appear to allow your skin to breath while wearing which is good as other waterproof trousers I have owned have caused me to sweat to the point where it defeats the purpose them being waterproof! Not had a heavy downpour as yet to test them in, but the light showers over the last couple of days have been no trouble for these while out walking the dog (20+ minutes). I bought XL version, have a 36" waist, and these fit fine over trousers or jeans. The zip at the size means you can put on and off, even with walking boots on. All in all, very happy with my purchase. UPDATE: Had first outing when the heavens were fully open for business and these kept me perfectly dry. Also as I get two trains to work, the transition from cold wet outside into warmer carriage climates for 1+ hours remained comfortable and Miss Betty Swallocks was nowhere to be seen. They also fold away fine and can fit into front pocket of my laptop bag easily. Highly recommended product.

Perfect for dog walks

Good but not perfect

Bought these for a long distance trek along the SW coastal path. They have dual zips on both legs so can be opened up to put on over boots or zipped down for ventilation. In most rainy conditions they didn’t their job and kept the rain out. However in one “deluge” on the way into Newquay, the combination of strong wind and heavy rain was too much . My trousers underneath got damp. Generally they are comfortable but again not fully breathable and my legs did sweat somewhat when walking hard and so I found they pulled a bit especially when walking uphill. I don’t believe it is possible to make overtrousers that are truly waterproof in all conditions and are fully breathable but these are a pretty good design for all but really extreme rain.

Best waterproof over trousers I've used

I bought these for my bicycle commute and have found them to live up to their claims. I have worn them several times in very heavy rain, and have remained bone dry. They are highly breathable, as in the past, using my old Trespass waterproof over trousers, my cycle tights would be quite wet from condensation, even though they were rated at 5,000 for breathability, but this has not been a problem with the Berghaus. They are easy to put on and take off, due to the side zips, and they are quite light. The only criticism I have is that a dedicated storage bag was not provided with them, which I found a bit stingy considering the relatively high cost. However, I can live with this, and just keep them in a ziploc bag when not in use. Overall, a great product. Incidentally, I bought the large size with the longest leg and found them a good fit, and long enough, even when bending my knees when cycling.
