TOES ARE WARM & TOASTY

I tried on these socks as soon as I got them, and they are REALLY comfortable--the weave inside is almost like soft terry-cloth. I typically wear two socks in general to reduce odor, but I actually wear these sock on their own because they feel so good. The size appears to be correct: the large fit my size 10.5 feet with tube socks underneath with no problem, and gripped my calf just fine. I was waiting for a really cold day (live in CT, January day with frigid cold for the record books!) to put these socks to the test and write my review. This afternoon, the high temperature did not crack 20 degrees F, and had actually dropped to 10 or so by the late afternoon when I had to shovel the rest of the snow. With just regular tube socks underneath and a pair of old Timberlands for boots, my feet were toasty warm and in much better shape than my hands in the so-called winter gloves I had on. This was a marked difference than when I was wearing other boot socks waiting for Cabela's Black Friday sale (and the temperature was about 10 degrees warmer). I plan on hunting in upstate PA in February, and I'm confident that my feet will be quite comfortable in these socks. So far, so great--I will update after a few washes and then after a full winter to see how they hold up.

Great soft warm sock

These socks are GREAT!! This is the first time I ordered the X-Large and they aren't really that much larger, but they do go further up the calf. I wear a size 12 but I also suffer from neuropathy (nerve damage caused by arthritis in my back) in both feet from the knees down and need a padded sock to wear around the house; these are perfect. Soft and they stay in place without being too tight. I'll be buying the X-large from now on. They are warm, but they didn't make my feet sweat.

Great warmth. Just not...

Great warmth. Truest test yet to come when I ride the motorcycle. See if my toes stay warm in a new pair of engineer boots while wearing these socks. That will hopefully vindicate an expensive purchase. UPDATE 12.4.14 : Still had to throw in some temporary hunting toe/boot warmers at around 32 degrees on the sled. Have usually ridden to about 26 in the past but can only go an hour or so with the throw-away toe heat packets that hunters typically use. Will have to upgrade my heated riding gear to include heated socks that plug in. Really nice socks 4.5 stars for the quality but still WAY pricey. 2 Stars for the pricing.

Best in their class. I'm at around my 15th pair. I get really cold feet and feel like for as long as these socks are manufactured, my problem is solved. The sock wears quite well, is incredibly comfortable and thick yet supple, not bulky feeling. I wear them most of the winter with sandals (it's alright, I'm not giving fashion advice)/clogs/boots. I might resort to dyeing them at some point for variety, but I seriously doubt there is a sock out there I will ever choose to replace these with.

USA made, USA top quality.

Once I tried Fox River socks I have been sold on them. I work on my feet all day in heavy boots and I have found nothing that feels better nor last longer than Fox River. Do your self and your feet a favor, get a pair, I promise you will be back for more. And they are made in the USA
