ExOfficio BugsAway Chas'r Long Sleeve Crew

I have two t-shirts one long sleeve and one short sleeve. I guess the short sleeve was pointless..So long sleeve is great I'm 5'7" 170lbs 40" chest and Medium fits nice. I guess if you have a bit of extra weight in the mid section you may want to go up a size. I see some complaints about fit. My girlfriend is 5'3" 128lbs 36 chest and medium fits her good, little loose, but comfy loose. These seem to work ok in the areas they cover. Still in the upper peninsula of Michigan, mosquito's are the state bird and by our cabin they pretty much drink 100% deet, so we try anything and everything. Ours did not smell as some people stated, The fit was fine (average size individual, We follow the label for care and wash separate. It would be nice to find these in a better wicking material maybe the thick material is the key to mosquito penetration. I'm guessing they work great in Africa, Costa Rica where the insects are not bombarded with various pesticides to adapt to like the U.S.

I still get bit, but not where the shirt covers.

The shirt is comfortable even in hot weather. I ordered a size up just because I have long arms and it fits well. I'm not sure why this would be better than a regular long sleeve shirt. It only protects whatever part of your skin is covered; it doesn't repel bugs away from you. One of the tags says "For protection of exposed skin, use in conjunction with an insect repellent registered for direct application to skin." I have never been bitten by a bug through any kind of clothing before (but I have read that some of the reviewers here say that they have. For them, this shirt is good). I wore this around my yard and still got bit on my exposed areas (neck and hands).

Better quality than I expected.

$15 to sleep without getting eaten alive by mosquitoes? It's a dream come true. :) I bought a 3xxx because I am going to use this as a night shirt in Mexico and Alaska. (Mosquitoes LOVE me. It's horrible.) I used this shirt as a nightshirt in Mexico. First time I have gone to Mexico and was not eaten alive while I slept. The shirt is a lot more "solid" than I thought it would be. It's soft and cozy and substantial.

Sleeves are perfect...

I purchased this because I am going to a country with mosquitos, for the color and for the sleeves. I am prone to mosquito bites more than any other person I know, so my review regarding how well this shirt works will come later. The color is more of an off red. The red does not pop like in the picture. I am 5'9" and most shirt sleeves for women are a bit before-my-wrist-short. These are perfect!

Has all of the powers of a regular shirt

The manufacturer's instructions for this tell you to put bug spray on any exposed skin, so in the best of cases this shirt has all of the powers of a regular shirt unless you intend to use it to keep bugs from touching your shirt. Unfortunately, it doesn't work for that either. Within minutes of going outside I had a dozen mosquitoes happily landing on, and biting me through, this shirt. On the other hand, I didn't have any butterflies or bats land on me and as a shirt it is functional in that it keeps people from seeing your torso. In summary: Repels - women, torso nudity Does not repel - mosquitoes, biting flies Maybe repels - butterflies, bats

Order one size larger

I bought this for my husband but it was a little smaller than expected. We sent it back and they didn't have it in his size to exchange. Seemed like a good shirt but would have ordered a size larger.

Effective and comfortable

I had read that you should always pick one size larger than you normally wear, when it comes to this company's clothing. So that's what I did -- picked a Large instead of Medium (my usual). Fits perfectly. Very comfortable. Warm, though, so I wished I had also picked one of their shirts on the 'lighter' side for warmer days. Found it to be effective against bug bites.
