What happened?
My old smiths electric knife sharpener pictured, went on the blitz so I thought I would get another but smiths doesnt make that model anymore which worked great after removing the plastic cover over the coarse grind wheels. SO I bought his one thinking it must be better and more powerful. Its not. Im rather disappointed. I mean it does sharpen a knife but it tends to chatter, and the grinding wheel is very coarse, unlike the abrasive on their older model. So what happened? I won't sharpen a good knife using the new one. The edge it puts on a knife is rather jagged. Like I said, the stone is rather coarse. I gave it three stars because it does work, and by n by gets an edge rather quickly on a blade, but the older version was 5 star compared to this one. So, What happened? Arent products supposed to improve? I guess not.

It has a personality
I used it on my cheap knives to get to know it's "personality" before moving on to the good ones. Gotta say, for the price I'm pleased with the results. Index finger pressure and constant contact through the draw does the trick after only a minute. Seems to give knives a micro-seration which is fine with me for non-surgery. They draw through the tomato skin just with the weight of the knife now. Shoulda videotaped the before and after. But the best advice is I'm glad I did this in the garage near the shop vac. First use and a dozen knives left me with a about 2 tablespoons worth of very fine dust of metal and stone spread over a square foot I'm glad isn't in the kitchen.

The stone is also very aggressive and will wear out an expensive knife quickly.
This electric came as promised and will only work when pulled in. It is not rechargeable. The sharping stones are not even in the slots, making a different cut on each side of the blade. The stone is also very aggressive and will wear out an expensive knife quickly. To use it, you have to really practice on how to hold the blade in each slot. I will use in in my workshop and only on tools.

Easy to use!
It's self explanatory and simple to use just turn on and run your knives through it and then take off the burrs by running them through the ceramic rods!
