Painfully adorable and very customizable!

Looking for more ways to practice sewing, I bought this kit. I love llamas and alpacas, so I couldn’t resist this, especially with how fun the customizations looked and I’d get to learn something new, as I’ve never sewed with pompoms before. Plus, having tried a Klutz kit before (the cactus plants one), I felt confident the instructions would be clear (they were), the kit would be complete with all the parts as advertised (it did), and there would be an allowance for one’s own creativity to be involved when it comes to decorating it (there was.) The customizations could be even more grand if you have additional supplies laying around at home, like pompoms, yarn, sequins, etc. I did this kit over about a week. It wasn’t hard, but it did take concentration so I wanted to make sure I didn’t rush it or get bored with it. There were lots of customizations available, and I decided to do the ear tassels and a flower crown. What is nice is that these customizations are removable, so if I wanted to later, I could make a little wardrobe out of the other pieces like the top hat and bow or even make a necklace of pompoms or tassels. The wings and unicorn horn would be permanent, as you are supposed to sew those on, but there may be a way to make those removable too so you can have even more options to change around the llama’s “clothes.” I am SUPER pleased with how my llama turned out! I am giving this one as a gift and I'll probably get another kit to make a second llama for me.

Got as a present

My niece loves projects and so this seemed right up her alley. Unfortunately it seems the materials aren't that great and it's not very easy to complete the project. I am not sure if it's an age issue, she is 11 so it fits within the scope. I gave it a 2 since it has promise, just wasnt the greatest here.

Less like a stuffed animal then one might like...

Very exited to get this craft, but very disappointed when I realized a different material was used to make the back of the pillow. Instead of a furry backside, there is instead a floral fabric in which is designed to be sewn on the back. This was very disappointing for me, because I was hoping I would get more of a stuffed animal out of this. It is also frustrating to get a product that is different than what it appears on the packaging. You will notice in all of the photos on the packaging that none of them show this "floral backside". This makes the llama more 2d than 3d, especially because the blanket doesn't actually drape over the back side.

CUTE, CUTE, CUTE

I purchased this kit for my 10 year old niece for Christmas. I then helped her to make this adorable pillow. She definitely needed help to complete this pillow, but we had a great time working on it together. It turned out as cute as displayed on the picture. She was thrilled with the pillow and very excited about learning some new skills!

A Fun and Creative Project

I made this Llama for my daughter and it is adorable. I followed the instructions and had no trouble. In fact I learned 3 new stitches. It was very easy and I made it over the course of 3 days, spending about 2 hours a day on it. I recommend this project for teens and adults more than for kids. I would love Klutz to have a selection of stuffed animals to make - I'd make them all. I'm going to be adding the hat and bowtie as well.

Cute kit for a crafty kid

I got this as a gift for my daughters friend who was turning 12 & loves to craft. She loved this. My daughter (12) & niece (8) both liked it also and will both get them for Christmas. My daughter already knows how to sew but younger kids or kids inexperienced with sewing might need a little help. I like that the kids can make their llama their own & they don’t all have to be identical. Nice for siblings or cousins who like to have the same crafts but also want individuality.

Good project

My 12 year old enjoyed this a lot. The only thing she had trouble with were the ears because you have to put the materials inside out at first. Other than that this was a great project for her to work on and to teach her how to sew.
