More than meets the eye!!
It's a great idea !!! But there are no instructions included, and I'm still trying to hook it up to my carbon filter & fan ,which is a 4" all around !!! The tube is 6" on both ends so you'll need reducers for both ends . Which makes it very bulky ! Another problem is Home Depot does not sell flex tubing in 6" , and I was going to use 1 reducer an six inch out the other , but I had to get two reducers. You must use silver tape or duct tape to get a good seal . So I'm almost complete with the assembly of all that ,then I'll hang the tube , I hope it works as well........ If I had a six in fan this would have been much easier ,!!!!,!,,,,,!! The wings that attach are screwed to a metal C in turn they just basically rest on the tube , they can be removed ,or could fall off very easy ! Like I said this seems to be a great idea , just be prepared for some adjustments if your not using a six in ducting system ,it's also fairly heavy and long for a 400 watt bulbs.

i give this product 5 five stars for a reason, it is just effective as hoods that cost 3x the price....in some ways more effective. Most people have no experience with other hoods and reflectors and don't know the difference. This is NOT a hood. This is a cool tube with a reflector that sits over it (it has no housing). People complain of the cheap construction. The reason the this setup is cheap (cost-wise) is because of it's design, and it's pretty ingenious. It weighs only 10 pounds! Comparable hoods weigh 40 - 50 pounds because they incorporate the structural design into the hood, which houses the reflector and supports the glass. People complain about the little snaps that hold the reflector together, similar to the ones on manila envelopes. Well, the material the reflector is made out if is not much heavier than a manila envelope and just needs to be held in place. Additionally, the reflector does not support any weight at all (again, it's function is to reflect light, not too support the socket and glass.) Do you screw manila envelopes together? If you really want to use nuts and bots they can be had for $1 at your local hardware store. The cool tube is the main piece. It houses the light bulb is the part of the unit that is supported when hanging. The glass in the cool tube is very strong. It accounts for pretty much all of the 10 pounds. The weight in competing reflectors is in the metal 'hood' itself, not the reflector or glass. This is because the hood that goes over the reflector. Glass in competing reflector is supported by the hood. A reflector needs to reflect light, not bare weight. I can hang ten pounds anywhere. 40 -50 pounds is a different story. This is not really a commercial unit. You can't just throw it around and expect it to last forever. However, if you are careful with it, it should last for year and years. The cool tube seals VERY well. Much better than hoods I have had. I needed to tape other hoods around the glass to keep them truly sealed. In terms of performance, it works great...as good as any air-cooled hood/reflector. I have it in my house (no tent). It's about 77F indoors. I have a single 600 watt metal halide bulb about 12"-15" distance, and the air temperature around the plants is 79F-80F, which is perfect for my purposes. The drawbacks I see are possibility of damage in shipping (maybe not the greatest packaging, even though mine was in great shape), or maybe even a butterfly nut missing (quality control), which will not stop you from using it and can get a replacement screw at Home Depot. This part of the reason why the product is so inexpensive. Customer support is great. The weight alone is a very, very good reason buy this product. If that is not enough considering it is only $65 and works just as well for cooling as any competing product. Franky, I'd rather use the spare money for a expensive fan, the ducting and dinner. 5 STARS!

UPDATE!!
So, not sure what happened to my original review. Glad it's not to be found, I was upset about the shipping. Got here almost a week later (even prime, Amazon screwed up, I'm blaming them) than they were supposed to. Hmpf... Well, after almost two weeks in 100+ OKC June heat. 2x 600W HPS in a 4x4x8 tent. It got bloody hot in there. 120 at the top by the bulbs, 95+ at the canopy. My girls were die'n. My temps don't get past 82. (I do have an A/C pumping full blast into the tent - but with the open reflectors it didn't matter much.) I'm not using the "wings". I might next grow when I have more space to move around in there when the plants are gone. LOL Seriously tho. These are awesome and a game changer for me this summer. I tried LED and the results were subpar. HPS baby... But that heat. Well, fret no longer. Attach a big ol sucker and get that heat OUT! I will never, ever not have these. I am looking forward to trying out their ballasts when I need to UPGRADE! TY iPower.

Absolute crappy build!
First off the pictures in the description of the one I ordered show a big reflective hood and then they also show pictures of these narrow side reflectors which are pretty much useless. I got the little side reflectors on mine, but paid for the better reflector one which was almost twice the price. Then the screws sticking up that hold metal straps to attach the side reflector strips just spin around so nothing there is secure. And I just noticed that the eye bolts that you hang the fixture by are not lined up end to end. I could not have built anything this bad if I tried. And the way they silicone the plastic end tubes to the glass tube makes it impossible for me to get to the screws that just spin and impossible to realign the eye bolts, I am sure the glass tube would break if I tied to take it apart..... Absolute junk!

Works as it should-
Although the reflector is a bit lacking, it is still useful and works as intended. It seems like these things either have huge ones or very tiny ones. Regardless, it does its job, and spreads light over a 4x4 area well. The socket is mounted to the brace inside, and you cannot disconnect it (without taking it all apart - electronics and all would need to be removed) but I cannot see any reason for needing that unless you plan to go bigger, which you would probably swap to a different model anyway. Overall, it works as it should, is mostly assembled when you get it, and it focuses the light without getting the glass hot which is nice for anything hanging above. Other tubes may not have the reflector like this, and they do allow that heat to saturate the top as well. The inner reflector is a nice benefit to this, and it can also be removed in the event you would like to mount these for 360 degree illumination. Everyone who we have purchased these for, or used ourselves, have been satisfied with the results. Just remember to clean them occasionally! They are durable, and help focus light a little over 100 degrees (depending on how you adjust the outer reflector).

Amazing customer service quality !! seriously !!
So i was hesitant to buy a cool tube for such a low price , and when they got here one was ok and the other one side was ben and cracked , i was sure id get screwed over , but to be honest not only did the seller reply within 20 mins of my email but within the same day after i showed pictures and my order receipt the representative sent me a brand new one no charge ? I really didn't think there was still companies that cared like this these days , needless to say now I bought 2 of there fan controllers and plan on buying another 3 cool tubes because 1: the cool tube I got the cheapest 75 dollar one is awesome for the price quite literally and 2: I know for a fact if something goes wrong they actually really care about customer service !!

Pretty decent unit.
Received this item pretty quick. I put it together myself last night. It goes together pretty easy but I don't care for the fasteners that they sent so I'm going to put small bolts and nuts in their place. Other than that, seems like a good unit and tube is thick not cheap plastic like I was kinda expecting. I'll be using this in my new 5x5 tent (when I get it built) with a 600w bulb to start. I may need to upgrade to 1000w depending on my footprint/lumens with the 600w

Some assembly required, but not hard to do.
Some assembly required. Thick glass is most of weight. Reflector very thin and light weight. Super easy to assemble, did assembly by my self, one man job. Hardest part was removing packing from screw shell of bulb (arthritis in hand not that hard to do). Removes heat better than I thought it would. Added pictures in 5 X 5 tent.
